Honda Japan also produces cars for oversees markets like EU and US, so it's not unusual to have a VIN starting with J for a left hand drive. Located in Europe I drive a Japan made Accord myself.

Christ, not every car made in Japan is meant for the Japanese market, walk into your Honda dealership and look at the dealer sticker on the CR-Z, 90% made in Japan.

Your car was not an SiR, and was not a miss print. It was built in Japan and exported. Just like some of the SiR's were built in Maryland and then exported to Japan. Same with Accord Wagons.

If it is a F22B2 it is non-Vtec and is either an LX, SE, VP, or DX. F22B1 is for the EX.

Above covers most of it.

Accords were still being built for and imported to North America from 94-97 (although there was also some state side production as well these years for US market)... which would have a VIN number desginating the Japanese production (JHM designation vs 1HM designation for US production).

My 1995 EX is also JHM VIN showing it production in Japan, yet still a US model... its not a special model, miss print, or anything of that nature. Just a origin of manufacturing, built for our market and exported.
