EM1 Suspension Help
OK, so I've done a lot of reading on forums and just general research and I can't seem to come to a conclusion. Basically, I wanna get some coilovers for my '99 Si and I wanna lower it about an inch and a half all the way around. Of course, I'm worried about uneven tire wear as a result of lowering the car. I'm wondering if I'll need to get some kind of camber kit or if the stock setup has enough adjustment to it or if it will even matter with an inch and a half drop. Thanks! Also, any suggestions on coilovers would be appreciated. Right now I'm looking at the Megan Racing EZ Streets. I've got about $600 to $700 to spend.
I should be alright as in it might wear unevenly a little or not at all? Also, I know the suspension on the EM1s are double wishbone and on a few sites it talked about how this type of suspension is able to sort of adjust the camber dynamically. Does this mean that it'll be fine with no adjustment if I lower it? Sorry if this is confusing... I'm a bit confused myself.
with $600-700 to spend you could easily get a used koni/gc setup. Or save your pennies, THmotorsports sells new GC/koni setups with your choice in springrates for $799 shipped.
Also, if youy're inpatient I would look into the Progress CS-II setup. For $579 shipped you can get a respected, american made brand of coilover with custom rates as well.
Both vendors are very helpful with choosing rates. Either setup would be perfect for your intended ride height.
I honestly wouldn't spend less than the progress coilover system, I've head horror stories about a lot of the cheap japanese brands like K-sport.

if your toe is in spec, you wont wear tire very noticeably... my gsr
s mud flaps are barely off the ground and i get minimal camber wear because my buddy aligned it for me... my vote goes to function and forms, or that progress setup

camber doesnt eat tires as fast as toe does.. u can always do the washer trick in the rear end to keep the camber in check..
Arguably, some camber is better for performance. And you could EASILY argue that some camber doesn't affect tire wear significantly enough to be worrisome throughout the life of the tire.

Alright, sweet, thanks for the info guys. And I actually just found this thread which was pretty enlightening:

I'll have to check out those brands you guys recommended. I was actually looking at the Function and Forms but they didn't have adjustable shocks. At least the Type Ones don't. Thanks again and sorry if people are always asking these types of questions.
