Default s2000 N/A motor build research

Hey guys,

My name is Johnny and I am an engineer at Honda. Our factory autocross team is looking into building a s2000 for SCCA F-prepared.

I have some questions regarding an engine build and power #'s. I have built plenty of K and d series engines but no F20 or F22's

In FP we would do the following. The only restriction is stock bore and stroke.

So an f22 with:
~14.0:1 compression
Fully ported head
Knife-edged, lightened crank
Very aggressive cam and valvetrain
custom Hy-tech header (or something comparable)
Most likely ITB's

Now I know of a 12:1 motor, .500 lift cam, stock intake mani and TB with Hy-tech making 240-250hp.

Am I crazy thinking 300-325 is possible?
Any builds out there like this? (Maybe TODA or something)

Thanks in advance.

all of TODA's good builds increase displacement so your out of luck there lol

on the 2.2 i dont forsee you breaking 300whp easily.

def gonna need ITB's with a very aggressive tune, aggressive port and polish, larger valves if they even make them.

why are you set on 14.0:1 CR? what fuel are you going to be using? maybe you can get a custom set of pistons made, and push the envelope to 14.5:1 or something?

If you're thinking about a Hytech header, ITBs, cams, and a built motor skip the message board and get a hold of Hytech or Endyn for their consultation. Hytech makes the stuff you want and these are shops that are experienced making parts in a motor work together for the customers needs. They'll set you in the right direction, no offense to anyone on here, but a thread in a message board will get you a debate. A consultation with the parts maker on the other hand will get you results.

There are very few F22C's that have the ability to make that kind of power. But Hytech or Endyn have taken a much more technical approach in dissecting the strengths and weaknesses of the F22C.

While that is a 2.4L, building something similar in a 2.2L would yield less torque (= less HP); utilizing a similar approach in compression ratio and fuel would give you a better base. E85 fuel would be your best bet in fuel, giving you the best cooling and power esp. for an autocross car.

TODA reached 290PS (+/- 285 HP @ the flywheel) utilizing a 2.2L engine in the ASM S2000. You can google it for the specs. I think their current car utilizes a 2.4L, but the 2007 spec utilized the 2.2L. Since Honda has a direct relationship with Realtime Racing, I would gain some information through their drift car. Their header would make more power than any other header on the market or available through the public.

shorter final drive gear couldnt hurt. look into 4.44 or 4.77.
