lol wow, i think you mean stripped, none the less the length of the oil plug doesn't really matter as much as long as there is plenty of thread on it to become secure. now what happened is that you messed up the oil pan and not the plug.. the plug is rarely the culprit in this case..so take that plug back to auto zone, and take your car to a dealership or a trusted mechanic to have the pan repaired or replaced.. only drive the car if it has oil in it, if it doesn't have oil in it, because you cant seal the hole in the oil pan drain then you need to have it towed to a repair facility. and sorry but more than likely this is going to cost you a lot of money to fix.
If it makes u feel better my wife used an impact gun on hers and stripped it out. I told her to use the gun to take the bolt out and she decided to use it to put it back in. Oh well **** happens. New oem pan is 200 on ebay. Good luck.
yeah new pan is around 200 bucks for a type s, i know shops in the past that have dropped the sub frame and dropped the pan and then welded in the threads and re tapped the pan.. but its still not cheap.
If you tap the oil pan, I would remove it first to make sure you don't get any metal shavings inside the engine block.
Hahahahaha. Oh man that's funny. But props to your wife for doing her own oil change
Gotta start somewhere..
I would just buy a used oil pan on K20a.org or clubrsx.com for $90-100 and install that, call it a day. That's probably you're easiest/cheapest solution.
