Default Question to those of you with a spoiler...

For 96-00 coupes specifically (or others I suppose), if you are on a driveway sloped upward and you open the trunk with the spoiler on top, does the trunk not stay up?

My driveway is sloped and my 00 EX trunk with spoiler stays up.

Have you tried increasing the trunk tension?

Yes, I have the 96-98 coupe spoiler on my 99-00 trunk.

The trunks are the exact same part #.

I bought the spoiler brand new from Honda and installed the trunk springs that came with.

It does not stay up on the driveway and even on flat ground, once it gets to a certain point while closing man that sucker shuts fast.

Did you already adjust the trunk torsion bars to the highest tension?

I have the exact same mod and I'm fine.

I think I just used pliers to adjust the torsion bars. Not difficult at all.

Is this why you sold the spoiler? Or did you get a bigger one?

The adjustment worked, thanks

This is why I sold the taller spoiler because I couldn't get the springs for it. I wonder now though if on the maximum tension setting that these current springs would work for the tall spoiler?

I can't imagine that Honda would change the trunk springs JUST for the tall spoilers. Plus, it's not THAT much more weight. It's only on the support and the center of gravity is slightly different.

He got a smaller one. He went from the 99-00 spoiler to the 96-98, I'd assume at least.

Exactly. I downsized. However, I kind of want to try out the "tall" spoiler with these adjusted springs because I honestly like the tall spoiler much more than the short one.

haha that's what I've been hearing - everyone seems to like the small one when they've seen on my car (in comparision to the tall). Oh well I'll probably just leave it.

Actually, I have the 99-00 sedan spoiler on my coupe, this one:

Compared to the 96-98 coupe spoiler:

Maybe that's why it looks odd to me, because it's the sedan spoiler?

Ah, that's not a good wing with the coupe. Doesn't follow the lines too well.

I have the 96-98 COUPE wing mod.
