Timing Issues on my LS
Ok so ive tried and tried and tried to get this thing into perfect timing, no luck. When the cams are in perfect alignment, the crank looks as to be off ever so slightly. The exhaust tone has the very very very slightest studder, is this gonna hurt the engine any time soon? If i wasnt a mechanic, i would barely be able to hear the studder. Car runs smooth, power is there, im just afraid of internal damage. Any positive input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas
If you were a machanic, you would have got it down to the nuts. If the crank is off, Just remember, you should be at 16 deg BTDC. Adjust your distibutor till your 16 BTDC by turning your distributor.
OP, there must be something preventing you from setting the timing correctly. either 1. you are doing it wrong or 2. you have the wrong parts (t-belt, water pump, cam gear). im betting on #1 though.
remove the belt, set everything to tdc and reinstall. repeat until the belt is on and everything is lined up properly
