Default '94 GS-R - performance and daily driver challenge

Ok, I recently bought a '94 GS-R with 146k. My first stop was to change out all the belts, fluids, leaking seals, WP and TB. Purchase a set of DC headers to resolve my "rattling cat" issues and now I'm looking to get more power out of her.

Criteria would be something that I can daily drive and relatively easy to maintain,. reliability IS an important factor. Hence, I'm looking into an all motor build and less into FI.

I looked through some of the FAQs here and a lot of this stuff is beyond me.

Knowing this will take some time, but aside from I/H/E, I would really appreciate some tips on where I can start looking into getting more performance out of her.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm shocked that you're willing to go this far, seeing you're in the Honda Theft capital of the world (which isn't saying much... its bad all over the U.S)

if it were me, id do I/H/E, IM, some mild cams, b16 lsd tranny, tune it, and leave it alone. if reliability is your first concern, then the less you mess with it the better.

for me, any other desires to do something to the car would get put into brakes, tires, and suspension(i would normally say wheels, but if theft is a bad problem then its best not to draw more attention to your car, and for that matter i wouldnt do anything but a functional head unit and good speakers in stock locations so as not to draw attention in the car).

Rebuild the motor and leave it stock. I/H/E are a complete waste of money for the small gain you get.

It's very true and sad at the same time. The GS-R has been a favorite car of mine since my High School years and an opportunity came up to purchase a stock '94 GS-R that had only one owner; I couldn't resist.

Have most of my suspension and aesthetics in place. Just think that the B-series has a lot more potential?

Rebuild the motor? In what way? There's nothing wrong with it right now as I'm just trying to get some more extra power.
