H2X race motors: what oil pump gear are you using?
in the midst of completion and I'm wondering what you guys are running in your race motors. Has anyone tested the metallurgy of these gears OEM vs. Aftermarket? I will be running a EuroR crank pulley.
through some research i see that Prodrive and circuitworx makes a gear for the H and possibly peterson fluid systems who i will call tomorrow and see. I saw that jeffrey had broken his oil pump gear on his fresh motor and that is the last thing i want to be thinking about while making a pass.

im running a circuitworx/prodrive oil pump gear.... your you can try using an OEM and heat treating the gear... i heard that works too

What do you know, yes they did. I just checked their website and they even say (at least for their FD) that they used to be called ProDrive. Their website claims OEM is sintered, whereas theirs are ground solid steel for what that's worth.
Can I throw this in the mix too?... Are you guys running stock crank pulleys (usdm, euro-r, etc) or aftermarket (ATI, etc)?
i have been running a stock oem pump gear w/ a stock oem euro r pulley for a couple seasons spinning the motor to 10400 rpm every pass and so far no problems knock on wood.
i have tried the fluidampr pulley in the past and broke an oil pump gear w/ it not to mention its aluminum hub is junk and gets worn easily along w/ the keyway in the crank. i accidentaly downshifted and overreved which is something i did alot on the h trans back in the day but never broke a pump gear in the process until after installing the fluyidampr.
the ati unit is nice but they were having issues w/ those last season, not sure if they resolved them or not.
i like my euro r pulley and will continue to run it. we will see how it works out on the new 90x100 motor shortly.
a high quality clutch/flywheel setup is just as/if not more important than the damper imo. i have seen alot of oil pump gear failures due to cheap clutch/flywheel design and manufacturing.
as for circuit worx/prodrive, i wouldnt run anything from them. i have in the past and found it to be junk.

well no go from peterson fluid systems anyway.
I am going to be running the EuroR crank pulley and Comp Twin disk so i guess i'll just keep with the OEM gear. Man this freaks me out.

Euro R crank pulley over here as well...
Don't worry about it too much. I used to rev the **** out of my stock block setup going to 9400 rpm and did the 1-2-1 shift (h22 trans) many times with no problems on an OEM oil pump...
