Default 94 civic DX tail light wiring, PROBLEM.

When i bought the car it had a lot of wiring problems. Most of which i fixed but this one is making me have second thoughts about this car. The section of the wiring harness that goes from the back seat to the trunk for the tail lights and license plate lights was all cut up because the guy before me thought he was an electrician of some sort, obviously he was not. I went to pickNpull and got the wires i needed from a 94 ex....i know, different motor and wiring and it has all the options but i thought it would work. So i get it all mounted and wired and i plug everything in and nothing happened. I turned the car on and instead of all the lights tunring on on the dash the only one on is the battery light and the SRS light. I unplugged that and plugged in the one that was in there before and still the same problem, my brake lights don't work, my turn signals don't work, my tail lights turn on but its all mixed up because the guy before me had a button for them. None of the guages are working and when i put it in reverse and step on the brake the seat belt light comes on and it beeps.... I really need help. I've tried searching and i reset my battery, i also checked all the fuses, still nothing. What is my issue?

man sounds like he really ****ed up with the wiring, check if there are any cut wires under the dash, might have to pull a full chassic wiring from a part car.... had a integra was cut to **** i owned before, after few weeks of messing with it i was bout to burn the car down lol. found someone parting out same obd chassic as mine and ripped out whole body wiring for $40 bucks my self and replaced it, everything worked since then lol.

if u decide to do that, try take pics of where all ground and stuff are, so u have reference where everything is when u put it back together. out brain can only remember so much.

plus its a civic, easy to rip out whole chassic harness, could do a mild engine bay tuck while at it if u can find a EX body, the u wont have to worry about vtec wire if u decide to upgrade.

good luck!

well first check your fuses, but seems like your wiring is so jacked up, it doesnt function correctly anymore. could be as basic as few ground or couple short wires, but it like finding a needle in hay sack if u dont know anythign bout wiring.

go down load a good manuel from a site for free. i dl some it helped me a ton.

here is site i used to use, not sure if its good anymore.

1) Check whether 10A dash fuse 15 is blown. Nearly all problem functions/lights you mentioned are protected by fuse 15.

2) Brake lights -- check 20A hood fuse 42, as well as the rubber stopper and switch located at the top of the brake pedal.

3) Check whether the correct type of taillight bulbs are installed. In some cases, they should be double filament bulbs rather than single filament bulbs because they serve as both taillights and turn signals.

All of these i have done earlier, still the same result. Basically i changed the rear wiring harness then put it back to what it was originally and my outcome is what you see. I replaced the fuses and i checked all of them, i know the lights are correct because they worked literally 2 days ago before i started messing with them.

Default Is my ECU blown?

In my last thread i mentioned how nothing was working on my electrical stuff. I've tested most of all the continuity to the rear of the car, everything should be fine BUT, when i turn the key on instead of all the lights coming on the dash only the SRS and the BATTERY light come on, put the car in reverse and step on the brake, all the lights come one, if while doing that then turn on the hazard lights every light in the car blinks. The headlight switch was bypassed by the previour owner and he said it was just capped off and un plugged but i can't figure out where he did it. Either way, when i step on the breaks the passenger side brake light comes on, thats it.. None of the driver side lights are working. someone said i may have a blown ECU, any ideas?
