Default No oil after 500 mile trip.

I have an Em1 with a b16a2 with almost 59k original miles. I just went on a trip and drove a total of 500 miles. I checked before I went on the trip and the oil was right between the 2 holes on the dipstick. Now after the trip, I went to check the oil and I am getting nothing. I only used VTEC mainly when getting on the highway only a few times. I'm going out tomorrow to buy a compression tester and I had Honda do my oil change so does anyone know what kind of oil that the dealer uses so I can fill it up again.... Also when I was driving I didn't notice any blue smoke.

Before the trip I put new sparkplugs in and while doing so I noticed that I had oil the threads from cylinder #3.

wait, what are you asking? if honda does your oil changes, then go in and ask for some 5w30, which is more than likely what they use. did you check your oil post-trip when the car was still hot, or after a few hours when it was cool? also, if you can change spark plugs, you can and should change your own oil.

After the trip, how much oil did you need to add to bring the level to the full mark?

Probably checked the oil when it was hot.

possibly the worst advice ever. if the oil was checked when the motor was cool and he continues to drive it, he WILL run low on oil, and spin a bearing making his motor useless.

was the oil checked hot or cold? also was the car on a fairly level surface?

I check the oil again when It was cooled and their was oil on the tip of the stick. I bought some 5-30w mobil 1 synthetic and put 1 quart in and it filled pass the first hole on the dipstick. And yes the car was on a level surface.

Compression test. And CLT. That will tell you what's happening. Unless there is oil leaking from the oil pan. Have you checked under the car for the obvious leaks?

I was under the car doing exhaust work and noticed no leaks. I got myself a compression tester and I'm going to do a test tomorrow.

59k seems really low to be burning oil like that...but if you continue to do so, i would recommend going to a 10w30 or 10w40...or rotella if you dont mind starting your car 2-3 minutes before going anywhere.

My car looses a little oil from around the drain plug. The motor runs like a top, I would check down there if your compression is good and your motor is running well.

a quick fix to that without replacing the oil pan, is to get an oversized plug...if that turns out to be the issue.

Let us know the compression results. Wet and dry.
