whats the deal with em2s?
well its because it it eithier takes a good bit of money to make em2/es1/es2 fast because the choices of engine upgrades which are very few (minus the ebay upgrades) and the upgrades dont really give you your moneys worth. the d17 isnt a very good base for going fast which it then it turns to a bottomless moneypit but then our only reasonable engine swap is a k and they arnt cheap eithier. the only last option is to do alot of custom work to fit any other engine in. so people dont want to
deal with all the pain and suffering with engines and go straight to cosmetics.

It also has a lot to do with overseas aftermarket support. Parts manufacturers in Japan really didn't bother with the 7th Generation Civics, due to their limited supply in Japan and overall unpopularity due to the suspension and engine changes that were far different then previous generations.

Sure their great for modding, if you have a K-swap done to it.
Either that, the best bang for your bucks will be Turbo or spray.
These cars are great to use as a DD and just use them that way.
Great dd , my gf and I work in the town we used to live in an hour away and she always wants me to drive because on a tank of gas I can do 5 trips while she does 3 in her Hyundai
great for daily use, i have a slight drop on mine, was trying to modify it but there is a very limited selection for parts out there.
btw.

also the em2's have very crappy suspension geometry with high bumpsteer and very very low caster, handling is pretty crappy. plus lets not forget the em2s were thee first civics to drop the dual wishbone / SLA front suspension in favor of a cheaper mcphearson setup

Not going to argue that 7th gens suck compared to 5th/6th, but i've been able to put down some very competitive times on my local road course (before and after installing a proper suspension (Konis/GCs)). Granted i've had the car since new and know exactly how to drive the **** out of it, but I really don't think handling is the problem with these cars.. the D-series engines on the other hand are full of fail.

I'll be honest, in stock trim that statement might hold true. But, after uprating my suspension components and wheel/tire set, I much rather have the MacPherson up front. It feels far more planted with a little more negative camber, and in turns the car feels eager to hit the apex and power through. And, that's not a biased opinion, since I also have an EJ6 hatchback on Ohlins coilovers.
but on the 05 they look like crapp.
I think they're still on the narrow side, and I'm running 245's on my car. 17's look too big on the 7th generation Civics to me, anyways. I'm quite content with 16's.
agreed when you start dumping money in the suspension and tires you will handle WAY better as is the case with any car however the EM2s hit a wall very quickly since for race-car-like handling its recommended to have near 6.5 degrees of negative caster in the front (like the 2009-2010 civic SI...it has 6 degrees, (i think) as an example) ad the EM2s have about 1 degree or so (cant remember the exact figures) mind you this is a track scenario but a lot of that translates to road use aswell

245s! What size specifically? Guessing this is on a 16x8 wheel w/ rolled fenders..? How low are you sitting compared to stock?
Cut & welded quarter panels and a front clip swap... far more space than a standard EM2 with rolled fenders.
I'm sitting at optimum suspension geometry height, which is about 2.5 - 3" drop if I remember correctly. If you need a better visual, the lower control arms are level with the ground.
btw i see your on lowmotion to, im 240r33, and im from halifax to.
play around with some tire sizes and rim sizes and offsets. i fitted up some of my friends rims to my car to get an idea of what i want with my car. currently i run 245/55/r16 on some 16X8 rota slips with a 50mm spacer all around. after i get my camber bolts for the front it will look amazing.

no camber (yet) and my bad, looking at tire rack form again and they are 205/50/r16. MY BAD lol i have some 1.8 inch lowering springs and a rear disk swap to go on, just need front camber bolts and the function form lcas before i put it all together. my rims without the spacer are flush but i like to run the spacer because i personally feel a huge cornering imporivement with the spacers. ( call me retarded but they feel awesome)
