i currently have this cluster and want to get a cluster with a tach

but i noticed that for the clusters with a tach there's a connection right there

DO I HAVE TO GET THE WIRING FOR THAT CONNECTION AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT GOES WITH IT?

From what I've seen clusters are plug and play and will work fine as long as it's the similar chassis. I put a EX/SI cluster in a DX/CX that did not have a tach on the cluster and it worked perfect. Not sure what that 2 pin connector is for on an EK cluster though. Try it out and see if it works.

well thats the problem, i dont have the cluster yet and i dont want to blow money on it and not have it work. so thanks much and hopefully other people will enlighten the subject
If i remember correctly , that connector your worrying about has nothing todo with the rpm signal wire. look up the wiring diagram, find the rpm signal wire ( tach wire) i think it's just one blue or green wire, don't remember but i'm fairly sure its on the connector on the 45 degree, once you have located the wire for the tach you'll know what plug it is on....

you don't need to add any wiring, just get a 96-00 manual or automatic cluster that has a tach, plug, play, done. I just did this in my 96 DX, used a 97 EX auto cluster with no problems.
