sway bar repaint advice?
you won't need anything flexible. the slight amount of flex that a sway bar sees is not enough to damage good paint. like all other things, if you want to do it right go and buy automotive basecoat and clearcoat. if you aren't interested in a quality finish, just buy any spray paint. make sure to etch prime any bare metal areas first.
I'm not sure what etch priming is. You mean spot priming the bare metal. I was going to do that. I think I should actually resand the bar. I wonder if I could just sand off all the paint and clear coat the bar. I think it would look nice and shiny. I don't know if this is a good idea though. I don't know what to do with it? Any ideas? Maybe something metalic? IDK
well iif you paint it. sand down the whole thing with 320 then when its all smoothed out give 1 coat of etch primer then shoot a primer surfacer. then wet sand it with 600 grit then paint. with that its best to hang it vertical topaint to min dirt in the clear.
you do it right you wont even hae to wet sand and buff.
or you can do what i did to my sway bar.
i sanded the whole thing with 180 grit then agian sanded it with 320 to smooth it out and get the 180 marks out. then finish it with 600grit then 1000 grit then 1500 grit.
then i used a high speed buffer and buffed it to a mirror finish.
