Honda Accord 01 OBD Code 505 IACV
I have a Honda Accord 2001 LX Sedan. I haven't been able to start my car for the past 2 weeks. When I do its only because I stepped on the gas pedal and as soon as I release my foot from the gas pedal it stopped running.
Today I my friend helped me take the intake manifold and Idle control valve apart. We found the intake manifold to be filled with black oil so we cleaned it and installed everything back.
The car starts without any problem.
Does anyone know why or how can the manifold or the throttle body be filled with black greasy oil?
Please advise,
Thanks

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system is your culprit I do believe. The name basically explains why it's so nasty, exhaust gases (and anything else pulled in) get thrown back into the intake and the stuff builds up.
