Default Running an f20b in an obd1 93 SI

What all is needed? Can i just use the distributor and intake manifold from the h23 and use my old harness with a chipped p28?
I want to retain my old harness if it all possible and just swap a few things over to run the f20b as obd1.

any help is appreciated! need to get my 4th gen running since my beloved 3rd is getting crushed >.<

I have the swap in my 93 vtec model.
intake manifold and dist yes(uses h22a parts, and h22/h23 use same dist/manifolds.
wireharness no, atleast not without having to add stuff for vtec.
chipped ecu yes, though a h22a ecu will work in a pinch.

The upper plenum is the same, the lower portion is different. The H22 and H23 manifold bolt pattern is different on the head. If the F20b already has an intake, just swap out the upper portion from the H23.

my apologies, the h22 bottom is different. If you have the f20b manifold, you can swap over the upper half from a h22/h23 so you can use obd1 iacv, but you have to swap the studs from the h22/h23 bottom half to the f20b manifold.

Adding wires for VTEC is easy as long as you have the RHD harness to steal plugs from.

I'm having a hard time finding a manual f20b locally. Plenty of auto versions but i don't want to spend the money for a 180hp motor.

It looks like I might be swapping in an h22a4 instead..
Is it mostly the same as the f20b swap?
Swap the top portion of the intake manifold + fuel rail, swap distributor, use my old knock sensor, alternator, and maybe use some old water pipe for some coolant sensor?
I'm trying to make sense of this writeup http://www.jrcormier.com/index.php/prelude/engineswap

I have a mechanic that says he will do the wiring for 150 bucks
but if at all possible i would just like to use my old harness and swap as much from the old block as possible to make it relatively painless

this h22a4 has no connectors or harness with it.. is it still possible to do an easy swap with this engine or should i just order an obd1 h22a from the east coast? (I'm on the west coast)

and what is absolutely necessary to change/extend on my harness? the writeup mentions exteninding the coil wires.

I'd say Fk' the H22a4 and get a OBD1 JDM H22a and make it easy, equal power, more durable block and easier to swap.

You can just get that H22A4 motor and re-use your old wiring harness. I would hook the wiring harness onto the motor; almost everything should plug in with no problem except for at least 3-4 plugs. Those are the ones that will need to be extend and you will need to wire up VTEC and VTEC Pressure Switch. But I heard from my buddy that VTEC wire is already pre-wired from factory so I don't know for sure.

I would get a JDM H22A; they're stronger than the A4 IMO.

^He's also already OBD1 so it would just be way easier to swap than a OBD2 motor. 4th gen's are sorta pre-wired, they have the grn/yel spool valve plug and it has to be extended but they don't have the light blue w/black ground for the oil pressure switch.

Obviously i would prefer the h22a with obd1 and slightly more power.. i just can't find one locally..
the only thing i've found so far is this h22a4

yeah i could order the h22a from the east coast.. but i'm worried about what might happen to it in shipping/ if it has low compression or something else wrong with it and I'll be forced to ship it back across the country..

another thing is time.. My 3rd gen got hit and is a write off. which is why I'm trying to get my 4th up and running asap

doesn't seem too bad to convert the a4 to obd1.. this particular engine looks a little bagged but apparently i get a 4 month warranty on it. Which confuses me a little. if this is their only h22 and it goes.. then what the hell is my replacement?

anyways.. who imports good jdm motors in Canada??

I agree with the OBD1 stuff. I say an OBD1 JDM H22A would really suit the car.

So besides Hmotors.. where is a good place to get a jdm h22a? Somewhere in Canada would be better as I won't have to pay duty and border fees etc.

Well tigerjapanese is in Canada, just not sure if your near them and from what I've heard about them you want to look at the motor your buying cause people have gotten junk from them before. I personally wouldn't worry about shipping if you have the money for it, the way HMO packs it that motor isn't gonna fall over and get damaged in any way.
