Leather and paint repair.
I bought a '95 special edition about two months ago. Its not in bad condition, but deffinately has had a little neglect. Ive done a lot of cleaning since I got it, but it still needs a repair or two here or there. Mainly the clear coat on the hood, roof, and section in front of the spoiler are peeling, previous owner scraped it off the hood and roof. Ive done a lot of polishing, and its not real noticeable now unless its in direct sunlight, but I would like to fix atleast the hood. I was planning on seeing about having it repainted, but was curious if it is something I can do myself without too much trouble, or if I should look for a hood of the same color? The color is Isle Green Pearl. Also the driver seat is ripped on the bottom and the side is worn where most honda seats wear out. The passenger seat also has a little wear. I was considering also haveing them repaired. Should I do this or can I get replacement leather, since I noticed there are several zippers? Sorry for rambling, any input is appreciated.
its almost impossible to find replacement leather seats used, honda wants 1800 or so dollars for the leather seat covers per side. You can on the other hand get a quote about getting them reupholstered with a matching synthetic vinyl which should mimic the factory look quite well. As far as the paint goes, no luck there, car has to be repainted once the clear comes off. As far as you doing it yourself, thats also a no go, you really need a paint booth to get it to come out right if your gona invest in it. A reputable maaco can get you a good single stage paint job for relatively cheap.
ya, I had kind of planned on just gettting them reupolstered if nothing else. And I assumed the paint was probably too complex to try and do it myself. Thanks for the input.
