frustrating check engine light.. light comes on and kicks it out of OD
i have an 89 civic lx auto.. Car runs fine until your on the highway for about 3 minutes and then all of a sudden the check light comes on and the car comes out of overdrive. Once this happens the car still runs fine, but just doesn't go back into overdrive until you turn the key off and back on.. So far I have replaced the main relay and put a new distributor.. the LED is flashing a one now when the light comes on.. Some people say it can be o2 or faulty ecu.. Any help guys?
codes rarely lie...replace the o2 sensor if it has considerable mileage, then look into the ecu's integrity
thanks for the quick response, but do you think that the o2 sensor being bad would make the car come out of overdrive?
possibly, im not too keen on the dynamics of older honda auto ecus but, mil's make ecus and its controlled systems do weird things sometimes and they dont seem to make sense....like this. Really not sure....
