Default Vibrations when breaking on the highway?

I was driving between Austin and Dallas this weekend and going down highway 35, I noticed my steering wheel jitters and vibrates pretty hard when I break going about 60-70 mph. I don't mean I'm trying to stomp on the break, just a pretty firm press when needing to slow down while driving on the highway.

Are my break going bad?

I just got my heavy wheels taken off and I noticed this especially when I had the chrome wheels on.

Thanks

hot spot/ warped rotors. resurface front rotors. but depending how bad the rotor is. resurfacing the rotor may cause it to return.

Is this a pretty pricey problem?

you are looking at $75 for new rotors and pads. thats cheap stuff but it will work. Not sure on what you guys have out there but autozone has good prices and i know they are just replacement parts not performance.

1st of all you need to tell us how old your car is, how many miles... all that good stuff, when the car shakes, can you feel your pedal moving up and down also ?

This has been my only complaint with the car. I've had the rotors and pads replaced but the vibration is starting to come back. Probably a result of Honda focusing on gas mileage then braking power. Either way, its an easy fix.

You can try to isolate the vibration between front brake rotors and rear brake rotors/drums by driving the vehicle at the affected speeds, and applying light pressure with the parking brake/hand brake and seeing if the handle shakes or not.

Keep in mind I don't mean jerk the handle up, in fact, you hold the button in the whole time and simply pull up slowly as to just barely engage the rear brakes, and see if the handle shakes. If it shakes you have warped rear discs/drums. No shake from the handle means your issue is isolated to just the front rotors.

If it's the fronts they can be turned, but there are minimum thickness specifications that need to be adhered to, so if the rotors are not thick enough you will want to replace the entirely.

Thanks for the suggestions...
It's a 2004 Accord with about 65k miles on it. It is an LX inline-4.
