Default Looking in to buying a 2002 Type S .. im a noOb to K series

I thought I'd never do this but due to too many issues that i am having with my Ek GSR... im thinking of selling it.

I came across .. which i think is a good deal..
2002 RSX Type S for 3500.. needs some tlc on the body but not something to cry for.

So i will be leaving the B game and jumping to the K game.

Yes NoOooOOb on this thread

But before I make this difficult desicion of my life, i need to ask a few questions because of the seller of the rsx told me something thats making me scratch my head.

First - He said he did a motor swap and had to change the ECU where can i find the stamp and what ecu ID should i look for?... ( i searched where i can find the stamp on this car... but came out empty)

Second - Is there a good chance he up graded to change the ECU or down graded?

Third - Am I making a big mistake?

thanks,
sum1

figure out what swap he did. if he has a kpro ecu and everything mechanical is on good condition you should be good.

you will know if the ecu has kpro if it has the plug thing for it to attach to a computer.

3500 is a good deal man. make sure it actually has a type s motor (silver metal intake manifold) and not a base motor (black plastic intake manifold) though... lol. try test driving it to make sure the tranny doesn't grind, the first tranny i had that came in my type s grinded like a bitch! i had acura replace my tranny and add in a j's racing final drive + quaife lsd and it is buttery smooth.

Also check if the oil pan is a lot bigger than most Honda oil pans. k20a2's hold a lot of oil for this reason.

He might have swapped out a kpro'd ecu. Sounds fishy that he would even mention it. Maybe it's a base converted to "type s." Does it have all other type s features?

You know what they say about when things sound too good to be true right? Stay away. Otherwise you will be dealing with a $3500 headache that has a resale value of a 50 years old hooker.
Unless he has a receipt for the engine that matches the VIN on the bottom of the block, I would keep looking for other cars man.
And if you want to know why he swapped out the ECU...ASK HIM.

Yeah sounds way to low to be anything good ask em for receipts, and what did he swap the motor for to begin with, what happened to the last one. No offense but 3500 is just WAY to low.

3500 for a Type-S? Too good to be true man! a 94 Integra GSR runs for far more than that haha!

yes, buying a modified car for 3k that is usually around 8-12k is obviously a big mistake.
