Some jerkoff broke a key off in my ignition cylinder
We've been having problems with thieves in our area lately. I came out to my car seeing that my drivers windows was partly down, sometimes my alarm doesn't get the window all the way up. I'm gonna have to make sure I get that fcker up when I park instead of hoping the alarm will. Anyway, I see that some jerkoff broke something off in my ignition cylinder. What do I gotta do to get that thing off. The key(or lack thereof) is in the "o" position right now. The steering wheel is locked. I've tried to roughly get the piece out and it won't budge. It's wedged in fairly deep and can't get anything on it. I've got most off, including the little screw attached to the cylinder and can access the pin thingy.
thanks in advance

Okay, so I got smart and before taking anything else off I tried to get to that piece that was stuck and managed to get it out. I guess I assumed it was gonna be harder than it was. It was just a piece of plastic and considering I have a pretty killer alarm with everything but motion sensors they just decided to have some fun and break something in there. I will be getting motion sensors now.
Be that as it may, the ignition seems to be old so I'm gonna have to change it out anyhow, so I assume it's a lot easier with nothing stuck inside there? What's the process to change out that ignition cylinder and what other things do I have to do when I do change it out?

Buy a Helms manual and read it?
Essentially the ignition is held on by two bolts that have no heads (designed so that the heads break off when tightened) You may be able to notch it with like a Dremel and unscrew/reuse them or can just purchase new ones from the dealer.
Ghetto method would be using regular grade 8 or above bolts/nuts

So take off the shroud, then remove those bolts and the whole assembly should drop right now. Unplug any wiring and you're good to roll.
May want to update/replace the ignition switch while you're at it.

Look, I know you're still fuming from getting your *** handed to you in that tire thread, but still, people come to this website to learn tips and tricks on how to work on their car, not to get told to buy a helms manual and read it. Second, I have a helms and it just flat sucks. Yes, it gives some information, but lots of times it is clearly lacking. I don't only want input on what is suggested needs to be changed, but also any info on how to do it.
With regards to the rests of your posts, thanks.

And funny, I would wager almost everyone on here would recommend the first thing you do is buy that manual. The Haynes/Chiltons is crap, so I'm not sure where you're seeing it (Helms) as sucking. I do not see that as bad advice at all. I have it and used it to remove the steering wheel, bumpers, dash, etc. No issues there. Now if you actually have the Haynes or Chiltons, I could see it being useless (I've heard wrong pictures/no pictures/no details/etc). But if you have a Helms, then you have a nice printed copy of the instructions I just told you. Doesn't seem too bad does it?
I also gave you the generic instructions, having replaced the ignition switch myself and you can see in brian's post (illegal to reproduce/post those btw brian, post will probably be deleted) I was not pulling **** out of my ***.

First off, thanks brian. I do have those instructions. I'm just not sure which components need to be replaced more than needing to know how. When I turn the key now to start the car, it doesn't spring back to what I think is the "on" while running the car. I have to slightly pull it back myself. I'm thinking I can just replace the cylinder?

Replace the cylinder, those shear bolts, and the ignition switch. The ignition switches have a tendency to go bad and can be a pain to replace with shear bolts in place. It connects to the back of the cylinder.
Using some graphite may help with the "spring" of the key too.
