2007 Civic EX Automatic Odd vibration need insight
My Girl's 2007 Auto tranny Civic EX 47,6xxk miles has an odd vibration under deceleration. Start the car up and it vibrates more than normal at idle, also sounds a bit loud (not vibrating loud but seems like engine running rough) to be honest it sounds sort of like an exhaust leak, however there is no exhaust leak... i know this sounds weird. Driving forward there is no vibration until i let off of the throttle completely, then i can feel/hear the vibration. Accelerating there is nothing, cruising nothing. reverse for some reason has the vibration also everywhere in the throttle range.
I have not done more than random quick look over, and that was before finding the article below, wondering if it could be a motor mount? that's what i took a quick look at first and from what i could tell they are ok, but not closely inspected.
any ideas are much appreciated.
Sounds ridiculously like this thread topic of a Porsche that i ran across in a general google search on the deceleration vibration.

Wow I thought I was the only one. My car is doing the same thing. It just starded doing it at 60,000 miles. I still have warranty but I am going to look through my paper work to see what the warranty covers. I don't know where the problem is coming from and it has nothing to do with brakes.
Car vibrates on start after sitting for a long time (10hrs) and on reverse. It feels like and sounds like someone is drilling my car with an industrial drill. This is really pissing me off, I really like honda cars.

My 2007 Honda Civic LX Coupe is doing the exact same thing. It has 65k miles on it. Took it to a local auto repair shop and he couldn't find anything. He thought maybe I needed to put mid-grade gasoline in my car and a bottle of stp fuel injector cleaner in it that it might be that. So I did and now just giving it a little time to see if that works..
It sounds to me like one of the cv joints is on it's way out, on decel one of the cv joints moves to an out of round configuration causing a vibration.
I have someone check those out possibly on a lift while riding the brakes, to simulate drag.

They rarely fall apart,in fact I'v never seen one that did, most just get loud and make all kinds of weird noises, most fail because the boots rip and dirt gets in.
But you could have had some other type failure inside, a poorly made bearing or race just throwing the shaft out of balance on deceleration.

Well that didn't do anything.. There is an extended warranty out for crack engine block. Think that could be it?

brought this back to life because my gf's 07 ex coupe (automatic) began to do this about a month ago and is only getting worse. When I turn on the car, the engine sounds as if it doesnt have enough oil (gear on gear) and a weird humm noise.
Oil has been checked both on engine and tranny...for absolutely nothing. Once the car is warm, the shaking decreases. BUT, when driving in the freeway and I decelerate and it shakes rough, kinda like downshifting. Its weird and hard to explain.
I havent checked the engine mounts like the op posted above. I'm going to check em out tomorrow morning....anyone else know wtf is going on?

Well for mine it is definitely an engine mount, its the one underneath causing all of this unnecessary vibration. Also my wheel bearing on my back passenger side. So 2 things i get to replace oh joy.
