CRX and DA axle-back compatable?
well, as everyone well knows, locating a EF factory axle-back is no laughing matter. I have given up trying to locate one. Last week while scanning a random junkyard, I came across a flawless 92-93 Da coupe. And it still retained the factory axle-back. My question is, would this be a direct swap/bolt in or would this need some massaging to fit? I have heard from a aquaintance in the past that they would be a direct swap. But I am here now asking what you peeps think. Any FAQ'S OR WRITE-UPS?
i bought a greddy mx axle back mufller from my muffler shop. it was off a da coupe. i had to cut the tip and shorten the piping to get it to fit right. i had mine welded in as it would not bolt in but i have an aftermarket exhaust so..... a stock im not sure if its a direct bolt on but the tip should require cutting to get it to fit in the stock place due to the da exhaust being tucked further in then the ef one.
so the tip needs a little bit of trimming, but you had an aftermarket b-pipe? Were the hanger for the DA axel-back atleast in the same location as your factory hangers?

sweet, thanks. the pic thats on the ebay site doesnt show any hangers? It looks like I would have to weld on my own hangers......but none the less. Its a decent price for a factory replacement. Thanks again guys.
Comes with hangers
I have bought several bosal style factory replacements
they sound the same, and install the same
and cheaper!
Dealership cost is like $190
Buy the bosal cheaper, then buy some BBQ/GRILL paint. flat black FTW
give it 2-3 good coats, waiting 5-10 minutes between each coat.

why do you want an OEM one?
just restoring a EF or going for performance?
As everyone said, you have to shorten tip, and relocate hangers.
You'll only need a angle grinder +8" wheel and welder and should take 1 hours tops..

I'm kinda surprised that no one brought up the fact that dx/hf have different sizes in piping compared to an si. Also not to mention that 88-89 crx's and 90-91 crx's have different mufflers all together. 88-89 are bolted on with welded nuts on the flange, while 90-91 crx's require the use of special bolts with springs.
Its not that I was looking specifically for an OEM unit, but rather just wanted one that fit correctly. I never purchase parts off ebay, thats the reason why I was surprised to find that the price and supposedly the quality is decent. Q's about 88-89 hangers? I own an 88 REx and my brother has a 89 REx. Mine has two hanger near the axel, one before and one after it. My bro's car on the other hand has only one. Nothing was cut or added on either car....I need to take a pic so everyone can see what I'm talkn about.
correction, I have an extra exhaust hanger on my car that my bro's car doesnt...? weird....it does not look aftermarket or oddly added there either. wtf?
