97 ITR BB/MC more pedal travel problem...
So I installed a new 97 ITR brake booster and master cylinder (1") on my EJ8 with Stock front brakes and GSR rear disc brakes. Also installed a 40/40 prop valve. IDK if I bench bled correctly but I bled the brakes, flushed out all the old fluid, no air is coming out, fluid is coming out real strong and steady out of the bleeder valve on all 4 corners, fixed the 2 small leaks and re-bled everything again... still the same pedal feel. The pedal doesnt sink like theres a leak or anything but its not firm. It feels like it starts to get firm way far down near the floor but it wont hit the floor. Its not super easy to push the pedal like theres no pressure but it just feels "unsafe" if I were to actually drive the car with it like that. Who knows if it will even stop. So WTF is the problem? I'm letting it sit overnight to see if there are any other small leaks that may be a problem that appear after a long sitting but I'm doubting thats it. Brake guru's, I'm all ears or eyes I should say.
Yes but maybe I did it incorrectly, I hooked up 2 hoses and looped them back into the reservoir and pushed the pin if that's what you call it until no air was coming through the lines and it was hard to push. It was tough to deal with the fluid leaking out so fast when putting it back in so I lost a lot and the reservoir level Idk if it dropped too far where maybe air could get back in? It was just a mess and I don't want to ruin any painted parts.
just tried it again and did it until there were no air bubbles coming out of the ports and then some. I could still push the pin or w/e with my hand though. Then I put it back in making sure the fluid level never dropped and re-bled all the calipers several times and nothing. Still the same damn pedal feel were it grabs way down near the floor. Now I know about pedal adjustments, but my pedal would need at least an inch to have it grab where most pedals start to and thats not right. My pedal is in the same spot as my friends cars.
You likely need to adjust your pedel to booster pushrod length.

good info but it feels more like I would need atleast an inch of pedal to be further out to actually start braking how it grabs so far down. I mean this STARTS to grab just about on the floor. With the pedal back to its resting place it is where it should be, its about even with the clutch pedal and closer than the gas pedal. I just cant see tht adjustment doing that much. Plus it looks like a pain in the ***.
Because of leverage, there is a mechanical advantage. A small adjustment of the rod is larger for the pedal. Worth a try unless you find another solution.
