Default 91 Hatch DX - DPI d15 - Problem

I was at a subtle cruise, 40mph skipping 1st to go to third for the low humm that doesn't attract the cops. I go to press the gas..

-NO Sound.
-NO power
-NO nothing..

I'm pressing the gas, pumping it actually at this point...nothing. The car then shuts off. Now i'm trying to start it, and it's halfway starting, sputtering, and back-firing, not in the intake, In the piping. I continue to try and start it, no dice.

It's getting--

Fuel
Air
And spark --- I tested to see if the dizzy was working, I stuffed a screw driver into the plug, had my boy crank and checked to see if I had spark..I did, even got a nasty taze from not being careful.

First thing I did was swap out my plugs, I knew they were bad bad, so I figured insufficient spark was giving me problems, changed them..nothing, same deal. Any ideas on where I should look next?

--Fuel Filter--- I'd have no reason to believe it's bad. You can usually tell when a fuel pumps going, hesitation, rough starting ---sometimes no starting at all---but it's a possibilty, should I check this?

---Dizzy--- Despite having spark should I still try replacing it??

----Exhaust Valves --- This is what I HOPE it's not, I will admit that I beat on the thing. I'm often shifting at 6,000 with this thing and I know high revving can **** with valves something serious, but if it is this, I want this to be the last thing I try to check, in fact I'd swap the motor before I take this step, wouldn't even bother doing a valve adjustment or change.

All opinions and suggestions welcome..

Bump...

Update: I'm thinking the belt jumped timing...

Open to any suggestion though...

On a side note..whenever I used to really beat on the thing, Like revving at 6500 or higher, the check engine light would come on. If I tried to drive it still, it's hesitant, it'll actually halfway stall before the power comes in and the car drives normal (Once i'm in motion i'm good though)...never got the CEL code because the light doesn't come on often and once it does, once I turn the car off..and back on...the CEL stays off. Wondering if there could be some underlying issue...in any case I still think my belt jumped timing..gonna check when the suns out.

Update:

YES, the timing was off. So I retimed, put the piston TDC, Aligned the camshaft markers as needed, put the belt back on..attempted to start...NOTHING, it even backfired a few times still.

What i'm noticing? When I go to check again, The Car's jumping off timing every time I try to start it, Go TDC on the piston and the UP marker on the cam gear is all types of off. So i'm thinking my Tensioner is gone...STILL, when the car was in proper timing (A FEW TIMES at this point) still nothing.

I have FUEL, AIR, and SPARK...nothing. I'm getting pushed to my wits end, I have another motor sitting but I don't want to use it yet, once again can someone help me out if they can.

Why not put a new timing belt on it?

I did...and a new tensioner, and now with proper timing it's still not starting and occasionally back firing.

That was in the back of my head and I was praying to god nobody brought that up as a possibility..I had about 5 plausible reasons in my head, I'm family fueding right now, see which of the 5 pops up the most from other people..

On another note, and this is just me, I've had bent valves before but the cars at least started, ran noticibly worse (****ed up idle, audibly louder drivetrain noises, ect)...can that actually keep the car from starting, at severe bends?

If you have no compression, you have no power. Do a compression test.

Compression Test - FAIL

Exaust Valves got rocked, their shot to **** and screwed over..had a leak to so I'm sure that put hell on the exhaust valves as well..

Swapping out the head for a D16z6 head, D16y8 Head Gasket got purchased today along with a Z6 Timing belt..

Anyone have y8 Cam gear I can buy or u can just...GIVE? lol...

Glad I could help. Don't forget to replace your head bolts.

Yea, I just decided to replace the head, I snagged a D16z6 Head and manifold, picked up y8 head gasket and some brand new head bolts, gotta get a jumper harness, 4 injector wire plugs, and I had a spare chipped p28 sitting around so I'm good to go..MPFI conversion after the install and i'm good to go.
