Calling out all 4th gen owners.
Im about tired of looking for cars to buy. Im more then sure u guys are annoyed of all my posts and questions i ask. This is my last post. Its down to the last 2 cars. Options are- 1994 honda prelude h22a vtev 5 speed. white and clean--- Or a 1990 240sx 5 speed very clean also. How ever i dont give 2 F**** about drifting but im guessing the honda drag racing (at a track) might get old kinda fast. I know all of u are gona tell me to get prelude. But im looking for TRUE honest 4th gen owners to comment tell me what u think about the 2. Benefits of both. I just want a car i can enjoy, very good and fun project, CAN be fast! and Can do alot of things too. I want a car i can put money and work into and not regret it later. TRUE 4th gen owners please comment. I also know some honda owners go from fwd to rwd im guessing they get bored idk. I just wanna go in the right direction, being that its my first car that ima keep and NOT resell like the my other cars.
Also i want the most bang for a buck. AND please dont say go with what u like, i realy dont know what to get becuz i like them both very much.

I have a 94 prelude with an h22.. I absolutely love it the interior compared to a 240 is way nicer... the 240 is slow without boost...240's are very light in the rear and don't hook well for drag.... the body styling of the prelude is a lot nicer imo... pop up headlights suck... and instead of just worrying about your rear quarters rusting on the lude, on the 240's you have to worry about the rear quarters and the frame rails and strut towers are known to rot on them too....
Idk its up to you personally I wouldn't like to buy someone's project but if its clean and done right Id take the lude over the 240 any day

^ thanks its realy hard for me becuz i have friends with drift cars and i have friends with massive groups of hondas. How ever the honda seen here is pretty nice the drift is around also but not as popular. I think im going to get with the lude. btw are h22a in preludes quik? ive heard that h22 preludes are very quik but then i hear from other honda locals that their heavy and arnt worth buying. i personally dont care much i just want to know.
honestly .. I would trade my '93 turbo Prelude for a clean 240sx hatch/coupe with same power delivery to the wheels. Ask me tomorrow and I might change my mind, but at this moment I want RWD. I would own both of them if money and space was not an issue.
I've never really liked my prelude, but I've never owned a 240sx before either, so can't really make a comparison between the 2 lol. Though if I had the choice from the beginning which one to go with, I'd go for the Nissan.
Personally i would go for the honda. I have owned a few makes of cars
and the 2 hondas i have owned have been the most reliable vehicles i
have had. I came from a rwd background but i have adjusted to and
grown to love fwd cars now. In your case i would consider the way
you intend to use your vehicle, eg DD, Drag car, circuit racing etc and
which would best suit your needs. Asthetics wise i think a prelude
wins hands down over a 240sx. Its a sexy shape, with bulging rear
quarters and i think looks good from all angles.

Preludes are a little on the heavy side but they are by no means not worth buying.... I've owned 3 eg civics, 1 da teg, and 1 dc teg..... and all around the prelude is my favorite of them... there's ways to put your 4th gen on a diet without stripping out your interior...
My car has full interior and now weighs about as much as an integra

The only reason I would say get a 240 is because the market for them is so big. Parts are easy to come by. Also you can rivet on a body kit, have crappy fenders, be all mismatched, janky, and its ok. With preludes you usually have to have a clean good looking car to have something "acceptable" (if the word is right) Its what ever you want dawg.
I actually currently own a '92 Prelude w/JDM H22 swap and an '89 240SX w/SR20DET (making around 300 whp).
My Prelude has a coilover, Legend calipers, I/H/E,a nd tires.
My 240SX only has engine mods. Stock suspension, brakes, etc
I love my Prelude in that it is so fun to drive. It is a blast to drive on the track (turns, not strip). I kept up with so many people who thought my car was going to be slow. I feel it is a better built car compared to the 240SX, too. I think the S14 might be a better comparison for the 4th gen Prelude.
The funny part about tracking my Prelude was that it was SOOO inexpensive to maintain! Just brake pads and tires! SO much fun.
My 240SX is an absolute BLAST in a straight line! The rush is sooo fun! I am hoping to build another SR for 400 whp one day. I plan to do suspension, etc later on. I just wanted to build a cheap car that is fun in a straight line.
Overall, I like my Prelude more than my 240SX. It's just better built. Another issue with S13 240's is the rust issue. SOOO many are in need of being scrapped due to the rust issues, mainly on the front frame rails.
If you want an easy car to make fast, I would go with the 240SX. High HP and RWD is the way to go.
Hope that helps.

I would go with the 240 homie. You have more parts to choose from, they have nice body lines. More swaps are avaiable. I mean I love my prelude but I love the 240 as well.
if you want a challege try fixing up a prelude. if you wanna follow the crowd go 240. i love the 240 alot, heck i had one before! but then nissans reliability with their motors are as great as hondas.
i say get a supra...uhhh wait i mean get a 240.
i say get a supra...uhhh wait i mean get a 240.
lols yeah ill get a supra when i can afford it lmfao im broke as shyt i got like 3 grand at most. i might actualy go wit the 240sx see my god ima go crazy. This is pretty dam hardddddd. some say honda others say 240 FFFF lol.
well this thread is kinda dead but incase u guys do check it back out umm. k so i dropped the s13. im now looking at s14. any thoughts on that? 4th gen or s14 ? let me know. oh and eg hatch is also on the list. all i have to do is call one of the 3 and illl have it. just cant make up my mind.
yeah they are pretty dam rare i seen some but their pretty damm far from me lol. But yeh umm. I was thinking preludes are good in the short run for the h22 but isnt a eg hatch better in the long run since their lighter? Shyt i think about this way 2 much lol.
from me to you.. I have had 5 civics, an integra and my 94 prelude.. all of them aside from the teg and lude have been swapped. I have also had 2 s13's, an 89 hatch and a 93 coupe. both were ka24de builds, both were boosted and built. I love my hondas, but I would go with the nissan. they're easier to build, and more efficient. RWD is a must for top drag times, and you CANNOT drift a fwd.. lol. the engine management and control systems for the nissans are bar none the best design on the market for modification. especially when it comes to fuel and ignition control. and if your looking to make serious power the ka24de is a cast iron block, cam over valve(shim) cylinder head, giant bore, and the crank is virtually bulletproof. toss in a packed r200 lsd and your traction is taken care of( like a 2hr job).. your trans options are decent also, you can even go 6spd if you want. personally I would go with the nissan.. obviously
