Default What Racing Fuels and/or Additives Your Using

Just curious what kind of racing fuels are being used out there.

I see a lot of places sell streetblaze100 and similar, but I am looking for quite a bit higher octane unleaded.

I used to use an mtbe additive with good success, but I dont remember what it was called or if its still sold.

The vp import sounds about right except it is leaded. Im not sure my o2 sensors will survive it. I guess I do have a couple extras anyway.

VP Import™
Maximum power and torque in small displacement, high RPM, all motor, turbocharged or nitrous sport compact applications. Makes 5% more power than C16 and similar nonoxygenated fuels. Works well under high temperatures due to mechanical heat.

TYPICAL VALUES
• Color: Clear
• Motor Octane 120+
• Specific Gravity: .744 at 60° F

Well I think I decided since There are only about 2 test and tunes left this year. I will run some good unleaded race fuel and make use of my wideband to get everything dialed in right . Then next year I will Program the computer for open loop, Plug off the o2's and use good leaded race fuel.

I guess it must be a tightly kept secret since no one has responded.

lol nah its not a secret

there are alot of different race fuels being used and it will depend on what your setup is and what your trying to do.

if you want something unleaded why not go w/ vp ms109

The Bosch o2 sensors suck with leaded fuel. Run an NTK and it'll last a hell of a lot longer than the Bosch.

op, what are your power goals?
it is pointless to run more octane than you need. it will actually hurt. (not detrimental, but will hurt the wallet)

The reason I never state my "power goals" or what recipee im working with is because I am using a very large shot of nitrous. It seems to not be well respected or understood by as many honda-tech'rs as opposed to turbo.

This year I will be running 100-150 shot. Next year is a 2 stage 200-250 shot and UP..

I would rather be over than under as I'm sure you have known someone who has detonated using nitrous and felt the aftermath. Nitrous is more finicky on the tune than turbo in my opinion.

Money is no object when it comes to fuel. at this point I already have so much invested I need to protect my investment.

have you looked into using e98 ethonal based fuel? you can buy it by the barrel!!
it will require alot of fuel but is very popular in the v-8 n2o world

im in the mid west and all most every car is on e85 pump and barrell and some on e98 barrell(or home made)
and even a few low 8 sec cars running e98 plus meth plus n2o
again all of this on v-8 carbed cars...

but props on running n2o......
im currenttly running a 100-150 shot on e85
you will learn that alot of guys on honda-tech are starting to like n2o again
i just think there is something cool about being really fast on motor and spraying
to get even faster....someday i hope too have a 9sec n2o street car lol

also look into getting the pistons treated
like the swain tech/hpc/sliperry skirt on cast pistons even making 348whp
it is expensive but i have had many fuel related issues w n2o while racing and had
crazy loud det sounds and never once a mark on the pistons....i have torn the
head off twice to check after horibble pass's
