Default Audio Question, Prelude Specific. Components/Door

I'm going to be wiring in a new set of components in the doors of my BB6. I was wondering for those who have already done it, what the best way to run wires and the crossovers is. The grommet to pass wires into the doors looks to be a pain to get to and run wires through. Also, should I mount the crossovers inside the door somewhere or under the dash? I'm just trying to get opinions so I'm not working on it all day. I know i'm going to have to cut the plastic to get the speaker to fit. Thanks for any help. Hope nobody gets bent out of shape that it's an audio question, I just figured i'd get a hold of more people that have installed components in a BB6 chassis than in the audio forum. Thanks again.

I will recommend not installing your crossovers in the doors due to the certainty of corrosion. I've got mine next to the ECU in my '93. And if you spent a bundle on your speakers, they make inexpensive foam inserts that go behind the midranges to prevent water from getting on them as well.

As for the wire running question, I wish I could help you but I've never done an install on a 5th gen. I ran mine through the harness when my doors were off for paint, so it wasn't a big deal.

I was thinking I might just pull the doors off. might seem unnecessary, but i don't think my hands could maneuver in that small space to pull the grommet through, pull wires through it, and then get teh grommet back on. And I was planning on getting those foam inserts. I'm running Polk DB6500's in teh doors and another set in teh rear with some adapters from elemental designs. They're a few years old, but sound excellent. Retailed for 200 a set but i got a deal through crutchfield

Take your time and you will be happy with the result. I run MB Quart Q's that are from a few years back - still in perfect condition.

At work I've replaced a few broken speaker wires in doors, mostly Fords, and it is definitely a pain to fish a new wire through. Good luck.

This site will help you do everything you are asking for. Placement of x-overs and how to run the wire through the door. If you plan on putting the foam inserts you'll prolly run into a depth issue with the window or window regulator if your running 6.5's in the door. Anyway's good luck

thanks man, The speakers i'm installing are really shallow for a 6.5". I bought these originally for my 4th gen because they would fit in without too much modification.
