Icon2 prelude sounds faint?

long story short i was gona buy a prelude its h22a vtec 5speed.the guy didnt wanna deal too good some i let it go. Turns out some one got the prelude b4 me and bought it. A week later the dealer calls me and says the guy brung the prelude back.I ask why he said that the guy had gotten to many tickets or w/e so he didnt want 5 speed. SSOME BS story huh. alright so the ludes there... u know i go to see it umm well for reason idk why i cant realy explain it that motor or car w/e sounds kinda faint. i checked it out way b4 when i was first gona buy it and it wasnt like that. like u would turn it on and it sounded like a motor like strong and wanted to go. but now it just sounds faint like tired or somthing. Also it now has check engine light. and idk about b4 i never realy reved it up b4 so i wouldnt know but. the muffler sounds liek those cherry bomb mufflers . i looked at it no smoke came out when u rev. I not a mechanic just learning and trying to get into the honda seen so yeah. can u guys tell me what u think? the car is a 1994 prelude to be exact. If u guys can tell me what u think or simple things to look at to know that im not about to get ripped off.

Alright so i go to see the lude again... Well for reason idk why. I cant really explain it that motor or car w/e sounds kinda faint. I checked it out way b4 when i was first gona buy it, and it wasnt like that. Like b4 u would turn it on and it sounded like a motor! very strong and wanted to run. But now it just sounds faint like tired or something. Also it now has check engine light. Idk about b4 i never really reved it up b4 so i wouldnt know but, the muffler sounds like those cherry bomb mufflers . I looked at it, no smoke came out when u rev, so looks ok. If u guys can tell me what u think or simple things to look at on the car to know that im not about to get ripped off that would be great.

I wouldn't trust a dealer that's selling a car with the check engine light on. Ask them why. If they don't know, offer to take it to a mechanic and get it inspected, then use all the problems he finds as a way to knock the price down

Yeah a dealershit is supposed to fix check engine light and stuff like that, they are wanting you to buy a car that runs diff than when you first looked at it. Stay away is all I can say.

Sounds like the previous owner ran it too hard and broke something in the short time he had it, then probably just brought it back and said they sold him a lemon and got his money back. Unless they are going to give you a ridiculous deal and you don't mind spending money fixing it up, pass it and find another one.

Thanks for clearing up what you said a little bit. hahaha...

See how much they come down on the car. If its a good deal for a H22 lude then buy it... But i diont think you will get it for 500 bucks like mine!

yeah that guy wants 3 grand. I dont think i can return it if its a lemon, its not a big dealer just like one of those little local dealers. So i dont think ima be able to return it. Ima see if i bring my friend and let him run that shiit real hard and see what he says.
