2nd gear popping out
Hey guys, my friend has a CTR tranny that pops out of 2nd gear when driving really slow. Heavy acceleration, and it will stay in, but when under 30kph it pops out.
He has other clutch issues as well; all gears would grind if he shifts above above 6000rpm unless he 'granny' shifts and the engagement is really close to the floor.
I know he needs a new pressure plate, but does it seem like the 2nd gear synchro is damaged?

There is probably a clutch issue that should be resolved before doing more damage to all gears / sleeves in the trans.
2nd gear popping out could be bad countershaft bearing, worn dogteeth, or broken synchro spring.

On top of what Bull said, the 1/2 fork detents could be worn, the detent spring damaged, or numerous other things that aren't likely the cause so I won't list them.
Replace the clutch/pressure plate and if the problem remains, split the trans and inspect. He needs to take it easy on the trans in the meantime or it WILL have to be split due to the damage he causes.
