Need help identifying if car is REAL TYPE R.
Need some help from the Type R gurus
well long story short, my cousin bought a 2000 Acura Integra "Type R" , but on the title under the make/model it says "RS". Car has everything a REAL Type R would, interior wise, 5 lug, no sunroof/molding, etc... My question is, what else are some ways to identify this car as a real type R (currently don't have the VIN on hand so i can't provide that info at the moment) . Just curious as to if its just a typo on DMV's part or whatnot...thanks!

My title says Type R. Sounds like your cousin got ripped off. If you can post the first 10 digits of the vin we would know for sure.
Could be a vin swapped car...
Check and make sure all the vins are there and match, door jamb, dash vin, firewall vin (Check for obvious body work)... fender vin stickers, hatch, doors, etc...
Check the rear lower tie bar in the rear, if the stock one is there then its probably a type r, since the other integras dont have the mounting tabs for it.
Pull the carpet back on the pass side floor up under the dash and see if there is a heavy black firewall mat, if there is a mat, it might not be a type r.
Check the spare tire area for any sound deadening,.. etc.
There is a lot of ways to tell, start with those, and let us know what you find.... seems weird to me the title says RS...

My guess is title typo. Pretty sure there was not RS Integra for 2000.
Not many scammers will shave the moon roof and side moldings.
Check behind the ABS pump under the hood...is there a big hole in the passenger side side rail where an intake would be on all other Integras?
As mentioned, the rear lower tie bar is rarely replicated.
Check VINs all around. Block, tranny, and firewall would be most important to me..

Yea, that's what i was thinkin, maybe a typo..that's a pretty shitty *** typo though, from a Type R to an RS..California Department of Motor Vehicles is fuking up lol. I'll keep everyone updated on how it goes.
Like 'doespike' said...is there a hole with about a 4" diameter in the bulk-head of the metal, next to the ABS pump.
There should not be one.
My Type R didn't have one, until my accident.
I could not locate a solid bulk-head, so I used one with the inlet for the air-intake-noise-supressor, off an LS.
Here is photo of what I used off of an LS, look at the big round hole.

if that is the case and its a typo i would hope that it shows up differently to insurance (not sure how cali works) because if anything should happen to it (knock on wood) and insurance sees it as an "RS" guess who's gettin boned
Well i checked the VIN (DC2) so all the VINs match up; including tranny/engine. Car does have lower tie bar mounts for the subframe, doesn't have a BIG hole behind the ABS pump, etc.. so basically from what i can tell its a " Real Type R ". Im guessing it's a typo/mistake on the DMV part by printing on the title "RS". Time to go wait in a long *** line and speak to some less than intelligent workers and hopefully my cousin can get it corrected. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS
...back to the regular Integra forum because I don't have a Type R
