Just lookin for Some suggestions on the Different brands of differentials. Im thinkin about goin with a Quilfe or a Kaaz LSD. Also I don't think the LSD's come with carrier bearings so where could I get those?

Go for the quaife. pretty much hands down the best one on the market.

yeah new bearings at the dealership... btw different differentials do different things.. the kaaz is not in the same catergory as the quaife or the wavetec or the mfactory unit.. clutch types (kaaz, cusco ) are typicaly when u need to tune a preload, and usually don't work as well untill heated up and used for stip application oddly, the other three are good drop in and typically work well for street or road course use. don't confuse the types of lsds and what they are meant for. all of the ones i mentioned are great units. the quafie and kaaz diffs are not in the same category as far as use tho.

no 6 is the carrier bearing. there are two

Why not the LSD from the DC5-R?

Excellent unit. OEM quality and reliability.

The itr lsd doesn't suck. However the quaife is definately more aggressive and very reliable at the same time. I guess it depends on how deep your pockets are

What type of driving do you do with the car and do you care about noise?

The clutch type (MFactory Metal-Plate, Kaaz, Mugen, ATS, etc) are for autocross and road racing. You can daily drive on it but it will be noisy unless you use additive (which decreases the performance of the LSD). These require maintenance (clutch pack will be to be replaced eventually).

Helical LSD's (MFactory, Quaife, OEM, Wavetrac) work for daily driving, drag, and road race/autocross with very little noise. These do not require maintenance.

MFactory is the strongest as it is forged, Quaife and Wavetrac next being billet, and OEM is cast (case) and billet (gears). MFactory has the best runout followed by Quaife, then Wavetrac and OEM.

You can order the diff bearings for anything using a manual trans with a B16A2, D16Z6/Y8, L15, or K20.

go for OEM ITR LSD if your on a budget, it cost less then half then any aftermarket LSD
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...Q5fAccessories

OBX isn't the most renown brand out there, but I've heard nothing but good things on they're LSD, again this is if your on a budget.

If you're not on a budget there's a few more to choose from, all cost over the $1k mark.
except Wavetrac. I heard they're made by Quaife. Not sure.

That ITR LSD on ebay is 3/4 the price of an MFactory helical LSD.

Stay away from OBX. Their cast (weak), have horrible runout, and horrible tolerances. Plus their customer service is non-existent.

The Wavetrac is not made by Quaife. Autotech makes it (though I'm not sure who they have make it as they don't have the capabilities to do so in-house). Autotech was the US Distributor for Quaife but dropped that when they started work on the Wavetrac. Motovicity is not the US Distributor for Quaife.

Thinking of getting a good used quaife or a new mfactory. leaning more towards mfactory at the moment cause the price of a used quaife is bout the same or higher than the new M
thats my thought on the kseries lsd at the moment

price was a huge factor as i was having the entire trans rebuilt at the same time. i originally got a great deal on a wavetrac but that deal fell through. gearspeed cut me a deal on the mfactory since they were doing the job anyway.

thats awesome! how many miles you got on the M lsd now? how does the traction feel in both wheels? I got a turbo rsx with about 350whp so im looking to get rid of the wheel spin/hop. already installed hasport motor mounts which made a big difference but want more traction now!!!

probably 15-20k daily driven miles. first few times out with it i had to relearn to drive the car especially coming out of corners. no more fighting the wheel, just point where you want to go and it goes. torque steer isnt really an issue as i'm only making 235hp 160tq all motor. i still get wheel spin but i suppose that can be attributed more to the worn tires and control arm bushings.

I'm running new hankook Ventus evo tires and i spin all the time. You got me super interested in the M lsd! Can't wait to feel the power on the ground instead of wasted in hop

I have over 65k on the MFactory helical LSD. No problems.

It won't help with wheel hop or prevent power induced traction issues. It will make the car handle better and keep the stock open diff from grenading the trans when it fails. If you'd like to order one shoot me a PM.
