Default Crx dash swap

I have an issue with my dash swap. The person I bought it off of said it was a 91 si dash. I think it is an 88-89 Dash because my ef dash harness doesn't match up. I wired in the crx dash harness and I had a few plugs that weren't plug and play. Then I was about to purchase a a 91 si CRX cluster but the cluster lights wouldnt function properly My Hatch is the base model and I am led to believe I need a crx dx cluster because all the lights are the same/for example the seatbelt light, CEL, battery light. any input would be great Im confused!

I put a crx dash in my hatch about 8 years ago but if i remember correctly, i didnt even mess with the crx dash harness. I swapped my civic harness right over onto the dash. the cluster should be plug and play, at least mine was which was a 90 crx gauge pod going into a 91 civic. I dont know if the 88-89 gauges swap directly into a 90-91

Use your cars original harness and put the dash together with YOUR cluster to see if its a problem that you caused to start with. If everything works, then try the new cluster to determine if thats the problem

Here are the differences:

*88-89 Civic (works with 88 CRX)
*90-91 Civic (works with 89-91 CRX)

You can use either car year cluster but the harness that control all the switch from the cluster housing (bezel) going down to the radio are different.

*What year is your civic?
*Does the cover (bezel) for the cluster a rectangular shape or a curve shape?

Everything should be the same with the exception of the cluster harness in which the plugs are that goes to the hazard/dimmer and such are different. also remember that the 90-91 Civic model have the seat belts on the door so you need that plug to be connected to the back or it corresponding speedo. the 88-89 Civic didn't have that option. Hope this helped.

like i mention guy, if you have a CRX dash then you need the coresponding CRX year dash trimming. you can't use the Civic cluster bezel on the CRX dash. and also the cluster are different within the 2 year gap.

Sorry to jack your thread, but for the dash swap into an EF you need the door panels also, correct?

TIA guys!

hmm the only problem I had with my conversion was that one of the for the fuse box plugs didnt plug in (it was off by like 2 holes, it was too large) I used a 91 crx si dash into my 91 ef si, and used the cluster harness off the crx. I had to remove my whole dash once again and i used the civic si cluster harness with the crx cluster. all lights work except for the right turn signal, idk why maybe a ground got loose. any have this problem as well?

I had that same problem with the plugs off by two holes. I just need to find a crx cluster and cover to put in mine. I'll let you know when i get it if my blinker doesn't work lol
