Default Timing Belt ?

If I let my timing belt just run it's course and break, will it total anything on my car? I do not have the money to fix it and don't want to. I am sure it needs a new one, but I was wondering if it will cause any damage to the car if I just wait and see. Also, what is a good price to pay for this repair if I have to get it fixed.

You can get a belt for 50-100 bucks. Just find yourself a nice ht member in your location that will do it for cheap. I wouldn't mind doing one for 100. so total cost would be bout 200 max if you can do this. I'm pretty sure any dohc motor there will be contact. Correct me if I'm wrong, but h-sohc motors your chances of contact is slim to none.

Depends on what motor it is. Most of the time it'll KO the motor (bend/break valves and put them through pistons), but some people get lucky and the valves suck up into the head before the pistons hit it. Single cam engines seem to be better at saving the themselves when a timing belt breaks. If it does break just hope your not at a high rpm.

Well, anyone in NC that wants to do it, I will pay $200 and will include the parts. It is a 2 door v-tec(if that helps) It is shifting pretty bad, not sure if that has anything to do with the timing, trans fluid seems to be fine. But I know it needs a new belt.
