Problem with rev limit and VTEC crossover: ECU, tach, or distributor?
i have a chipped ecu, vtec crossed at the wrong rpm and hit a limiter at 7200.phearable seems to think its my tach.i have a 95 civic ex with a b16 and a 4.7 type r trans.what car should i get a speed sensor for?
VSS has nothing to do with your tach. Also, you have a B16 with a D series cluster most likely. Your tach doesn't match to the engine.
EDIT: Because the tach isn't original to the engine, I'd assume that it won't run the same as the right tach to the engine.

Tach makes no difference. Doesn't matter if its D,B,F,H,K etc.
when rywire tuned it they set the limiter at 7800 and vtec crossover at 5500.vtec crossed two days ago at 4500 and the limiter hit at 7200.ran good up until 6500 then was dead on its ***.i pulled the ecu out then after checking it over re-installed it and it worked just fine.no check engine lights ever, well besides the rev limit still hits at 7200
