Default wires but no speakers

ok i have a 90 civic Si HB and i was wiring in my head unit when i noticed that there are wires in the factory harness for rear speakers but there aren't any rear speakers in the car. my question is was there a factory option for rear speakers and how do i find those rear speakers or something equivalent.

Yeah there was a factory option for 6.5" in the rear. You can get get speaker pods that will fit in. Check the junkyard or ebay. And the speaker plugs should be there, or they were in mine.

they should be, and if not its no big deal. Runing new wires for the rear is a peice of cake.
Now the front, well its a pain in the ***.

yeah im gonna have fun with that.. I mean I really dont mind all the much, I mainly just want to have something to listen to on the highway cuz the drone gets old lol. If it comes down to it I can deal with just rear speakers.

uhh, i couldnt do that. Front speakers are a must.

I did all 4 of mine, it's a simple task however the whole front end of the car needs to be removed.

my car has no motor or bumper on it right now, but dont you just need to feed some wires through the grommet in the door?

yep, however to get the grommet the fender needs to come off.
There will be a plug where the wires go into the door, poke a hole in it and feed the wires.
That was the hardest part for me. the damn wire just didnt want to go in.

If you have your bumpers and stuff off then I would recommend not using the factory wiring and re-wiring with 14 or 12 gauge wire anyways. If your going to have aftermarket speakers and ever plan to amp you'll want better than stock speaker wire anyways.

it has been said that factory speaker wires can handle up to 100 watts without suffering any losses.
However i do agree with what you said.

I used rockford 12 guage throughout my car.

my 92 CX hatch was the same way. there were no speaker opening in the rear but all of the wiring was there. i bought 6.5" speakers and cut them into the side panels.

from the pic you can see where some models has #9 and #18 where and the speaker sat behind it. my CX just had #10 and #19 and since those panels just popped right out from the rest of the side lining, i was able to cut in some speakers pretty easily

im sure the EF might have something similar

ahh sweet, thanks for the diagram. the car is a cx. I actually have some circle grills out in the garage that came with some old interior speakers I could use to cover the hole I cut out. thats cool that little panel pops out so I can fix something up easy enough.

so I tore my interior out basically lol. the one door panel did have the wires in it.. the other has the wires running through the gromet, but the harness that plugs into the end of the inside of the door is missing :/ im pretty sure the speaker wires are in the back..

can anyone tell me what colors are positive and neg? the wires in the front are blueish and the ones in the back i dont even remember.

sweet, yeah I actually found this link finally
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/1046.html

I had some 4X6's and 6.5 pioneers laying around from my gf's old s10 so I cut a damn hole in that panel and screwed the 4x6's on it. ghetto mounting ftw. it actually doesnt look bad and I could give a **** anyways, I got no backseats or a reason for anyone to look back there

i can put the 6.5's in the doors, but only one has the wires, I cant figure out what the hell the harness I need would be called it plugs into the inside of the door, I was searching hondapartsnow and i cant seem to find it :/ so I can have 3 speakers for the time being.
