2001 CR-V makes grinding noise when accelerating
hello! I have a 2001 CR-V with approx. 94,000 miles. I bought the car used two years ago. prior to my purchase, the car was in a front-end collision and it has a rebuilt title. however, I have had no problems with it until now. recently it has started making a steady grinding noise when I accelerate, starting at about 45mph and up. the speed of grinding does not significantly increase as the mph increases. when I take my foot off the gas, the noise stops immediately. the noise comes from the back of the car, evenly on both sides, and also it vibrates very heavily. sitting in the back seat it feels like the back end of the car is going to fall right off! I took it in to one mechanic and he said it's probably residual from the accident it was in. however, it's just started after two years running fine. any ideas what it could be?? please help!
Post a video if you can as I don't think this is a common issue. Something is obviously very wrong to be making the rear end shake violently.
