I'm doing some research on how to cover my costs for running AccordinglyDone.com (which should be up in about a week, finally). Do you guys actually click on those banner ads at the top of the page? I'm thinking about having paid advertising on the site, but I'm not all that fond of banner ads, especially since I've painstakingly designed the site to use extremely few graphics.

Meanwhile, just to let you guys know where things are going, my host had to purchase a license for some configuration software so we can run multiple domains, he'll be doing that Thursday and I'll be getting the domain name shortly after, and then the beta test of the site begins.

 

I dont click on banner ads and i depise pop up adds.

I click on an interesting banner ad maybe once a month.

 

I have been guilty of it once or twice.

I usually never click on Ads. The only Ad i've clicked on is the one here for edgeracing.com only because it showed a specific item i was interested in, not a list of name brand items, etc.

dude run the banners but post specific products with prices (just for Accords duh...). like specials and ****.

 

i think he is saying would you like banners . because this will help pay for running the site.. if he didnt need them he wouldnt put them there. he's just asking if we would use them.. i say if you need them to help pay.. then go for it. we the customer has to deal. dont get over your head. like hondaprelude.com

Not a bad idea, I can make sure the advertisers specifically announce specials or things pertaining to Accords only to heighten the interest. I just want to make sure the paying advertiser gets their click-throughs. A lot of them can check referring websites in their logs, and I wouldn't want them pulling ads for not getting clicks.

that's what I am saying. no one clicks on the banners. but if the banner is of a specific part for an accord... I'm thinking it would at least reel me in once in a while.

i actually have my proxy setup to BLOCK banners & popups ... how bout that?

Ive bought from H-Ts sponsors before. I try to support this place when I can.

 

How do you block the popups, i don't mind the banners i just ignore them. But the popups are pretty damn annoying.

 

I think it is agreement that pop ups suck- the banners are alright, i actually click on them every now and then.
