Different exhaust manifold gaskets? I thought they were all the same for B16

The top picture is the exhaust manifold gasket for the 99-00 Si / 96-97 del sol vtec (b16a2). It is a SINGLE layer.
Part #: 18115-P72-003
The bottom picture is the exhaust manifold gasket for the 93-95 del sol vtec (b16a3). It is a DUAL layer.
Part #: 18115-P30-013
However, all these cars share the exact same head casting AND exhaust manifold by part number. So what's the difference? Is one better than the other?
okay so for the purpose of having good info on this site, here's the answer:
Basically it's a matter of cost. Honda found that the single layer gasket could do the job (instead of dual), so they switched. Hence why the early model years have dual and the later models have single. It also explains the $5 cost difference.
