ATi Race Damper Not good for over 300 HP??
Called in to order a ATI race Dampner and the guy asked how much power i was making. My Build should be around 500-550 Horsepower and he said that he could sell it to me but no type of product warranty would be honor'd since i am making more than 300 HP.
I looked on ATI's site and it does say on there that its not to be used on a motor making more than 300 HP.
Does anyone know why ATI is saying this?

yeah, that is very strange
the race part # is 918471
street part # is 918476
i have personally used the race ones well over 800 WHP and many on H-T are doing the same thing
those are both Steel Hub Part #'s
They do have a aluminum Hub Part # that i would stay away from that the rep may of not had confidence in over 300 hp
there is some misinformation or confusion somewhere
ATI dampers are just fine on extremely high horsepower engines, in fact i think they are a great investment to get your oil pump to live longer

yea i remember the horror stories of the aluminum hubs rounding out. but when i went to buy it they said nothing over 300 HP for the race pulley. and Nothing over 500 for the Street version. just didnt make sense so i figured i would ask around about it.
I know its a little off the original topic, but why do you have the fluidampr? I am in the process of deciding which balancer to buy for my new setup, and I am interested in peoples opinions...
The fuidamper atl. pulley is under driving way to much and up top at high rpms the atl. does not want to charge good. I even tryed to put a smaller pulley on the atl. and it did not help. I think it is half the size it shoud be.
ive been using ati dampners for 20 years in everything from import to domestic havent had 1 prob.. fluidamper on the other hand....not so much...
why would anyone consider buying one if they are making UNDER 300hp?
I understand thats a shitton of NA power.
whats next, 7K rpm limit?

off topic: when should some one switch from a stock pulley to a damper type pulley? Im going to be getting a good deal on a used on, but my set up is pretty stock for right now.
and what wrong with the fluidamper..why not run it over the ati..also what the advantages of the street version vs race..dont they all damper harmonic vibrations..
Replacing your stock OEM damper with an ATI even right after you drive off the showroom isn't a bad thing.OEM dampers have limited dampening capabilities vs ATI's especially at high RPMs Hondas see.
