^Indeed.

Remove door panel and tweeter panel. You'll see one brass bolt behind the tweeter, two brass bolts at each lower corners of the door, Voila. Loosen those bolts and the tracks will move. Push them closer to the window and tighten.

You can lubricate the tracks with spray silicone while you have the door panel off and that helps... I just avoid rolling the window all the way down and it doesn't happen anymore...

Hondas have a real bad thing with their windows and **** working with them in general. In 6 months both my windows have fallen off the track, the driver side did right before a trip! Took 5 min. to fix but it was still a PITA. Like they say, keep some of the window up when you roll it down, problem solved.

Mine used to always get off track..

Take off the door panel, put the window back on track.. There is a bolt in the lower right hand corner, and you will be able to put it back on. Once that is on. Don't torque down the bolt to tight because the window will just come off track again.

Once you've done that. Spray some silicon lubricant down the tracks the rear and the front.

This will ensure smooth sliding. After that, just don't put the window all the way down, maybe leave it about an inch or two above the door panel..

My window hasn't fallen off in months.

silicone spray is your best friend here, makes sure to spray plenty of it in all the tracks

you can start by spraying some without even removing the door panel, just spray the upper tracks and the base track

with dry tracks it makes the motor work harder and can eventually lead to the window popping out of the track because of the resistance

my windows stuttered pretty bad but after silicone it's like new windows

The regulators (scissors) bend, which can't really be fixed without replacement of the regulator.

If your window regulator is bent then you will continue to have problems. Get a replacement regulator.

Putting this off can cause the window to repeatedly fall off the track or wear out the motor.

I've removed regulators that are visibly bent, but they're not all the time.

Replace the regulators, silicone spray the tracks occasionally (just with a needle - no need to tear the door apart) and if you end up with problems again, roll the window up and leave it alone until you get to look into the problem. Don't keep using it when you have a problem because it only makes it worse.

I'm pretty sure everyone with an EJ8 has or will shortly come across this problem.

Like mentioned earlier silicone spray is the best bet every month or three months a good spraying should keep it at bay...but with all the spraying in the world I NEVER roll my window all the way down.

Regulators with motors are fairly cheap online...I've gotten some from ebay and I'm perfectly happy.

My OEM ones bent...and it wasn't visible at all on the actual scissors but you could for damn sure tell that it was off.

If the window is already off track you can pull the whole seal off pretty easily...put it in a bathtub of water and go ahead and get all the dirt and oil off...the more the better because then your silicone will last alot longer if it isn't just laid on-top off a layer oil and dirt.

If your seal is torn up from constant track problems www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is your best bet for new ones.

The first time mine came off track it was bad...screwed up my tint and everything.

This isn't just an EX / EJ8 problem.

This happens on power and manual windows on all trim levels.

Or do what we did with the EJ6 we used to have. Replace the regulators and never have a problem again.

Not always the end all solution, I'd assume.

Here's what seems to happen (from the multiple cars I've dealt with over the years that have this problem).

Okay, so the metal tracks running up the side of the glass within the door panel seems to at some point be lubricated. No one thinks to lubricate those tracks though, which is understandable. I've never seen anyone be recommended except by others who own these cars.

So the tracks eventually aren't lubed any longer.

This causes the window to become more difficult to roll up and down. With manual windows the people just force the window up and down and with power ones the motor works harder.

This causes wear on the mechanical parts of the window assembly.

Regulators warping is probably a bigger problem on manual windows since car with power windows might burn motors out before the motor manages to bend the regulator.

I've heard of the window tracks becoming warped somehow because of this too, but I've held the things in my hand and find it very difficult to believe they'd bend.

I have a '98 EX with all it's original window guts. It has not had any replacement on those parts (I checked through Honda to see which updates had been done).

I spray a little silicone spray down the tracks occasionally, as I have for years. I've never had a problem.

The above mentioned EJ6 we had to fix, the regulator in the passenger door was so bent it was difficult to remove from the door. This window had popped out of the track several times and been "repaired" everytime (put back on the tracks). Eventually it just got to the point where we could not use that window any longer until parts were replaced.

Everything NOFX said is correct.

I've got a 2000 EX that started developing power window problems at about 92000 miles. I had the dealer replace motors and regulators on both doors under warranty ($700 I didn't have to pay for woot!)

At that time, I started googling Civic power window problems, and came across the same information that NOFX just posted. Ever since then, I've lubricated my tracks every few months. About once every year or two, I take the door panels off and clean them out really good, all the way down the tracks. I just use Simple Green and a rag to get all of the dirt and old lubricant out of the tracks, then lube them up again.

Now, with 230K on the car, I've never had another power window problem.
