light drag B18C what clutch?
Hey so I am researching my current build idea. I am building a 90 crx as a light drag car that I can drive to the local track. I am planning on dropping my b18c in there. my goal is to build it up to about 200whp. My main question here is what clutch to run? I have already found a light flywheel to run but am unsure about the clutch. I could buy a oem exedy clutch kit for about $140. All of the aftermarket clutch kits are vastly more expensive. I am looking at 240 for exedy stage 1 and 300+ for ACT stage 1. What would be the benefit of running an expensive clutch kit? Would it really be worth it?
I ran an exedy stage 1 racing clutch for a little while and it worked great. The pressure plate is more heavy duty and durable on the more expensive clutches.
I still have the 8 lbs chromoly CC flywheel and Exedy stage 1 large spline racing clutch with 300 street break in miles and 30 1/8 mile passes on them both if you have any interest. I have since went to a small spline b16 tranny and switched to a 12 lbs flywheel and clutchmasters stage 4 clutch.
