Man that swap guide is old, before they had K-swaps. I read an article about a K from an Accord which makes it a lot cheaper, check it out here.

8,500 is ridiculous, for that money you could put together a far faster car then what a K20 would yield for less then half the money. If you have a budget that big and you want to make power, go forced induction + Small displacement B-Series (LS,GSR,B16..), torque a factor? Across the spending margin a reliable H-Series swap could be put together for far less money and headache and produce astonishing numbers.
Speaking from experience, doing most of the work myself, and tactically acquiring parts and spending, I put together a 600hp+ H-Series swap that has been running reliably for about 2 years now for less then 4 grand and most of that was spent on tuning.
I hate K's..I hate how they have such a fanbase when their superiority over the other motors as far as potential -vs- costs has yet to be proven.

so you would rather put a wagyu (kobe) steak into a flap meat car...i would rather spend on the flap meat and have some porterhouse steak as a two entree combo...!!!

although i did invision something not all that pretty when you said flap meat..

lol
$8500 k-swap motor
$2.99lb flap meat (ranchera)
$5.99lb porterhouse steaks
it was a comparison to asian flavas complaint as where i can buy hundereds of pounds of meat along with a nice b-series motor and that pic you posted is brisket not flap meat

For 8,500 bux you should be looking at a completed already swapped and clean car. My CRX is as clean as they come with AC and a B18CR swap and I would be lucky to get 5K for it.
If you come across any K-Engine more than $3000 for the complete changeover, tell them to **** OFF.
If they are offering all the work done for $8500? (Including frame restoration, etc.?) I'd say it's worth it. Stock, you'll still spank an B-series and even most of the modded B's out there.

Moderately Modified - LS/Vtec set up (LS Bottom end/B16 Head), par say, stock bottom end, and severe head work with a tune, i/h/e could match the performance of a K series.
Moderately Modified - b20/Vtec Set up (b20 bottom end/B16 head), head work, bottom end work, could match the performance of a K-Series motor.
And just because it's my favorite..
A Lightly Modded H-Series Motor - Can match or exceed the performance of a K Series depending on the H-motor type.
ALL do this at less then half the cost of building.
K-Series is a fad, it has yet to prove to have the bang for buck factor of a B-Series motor, or the b-series work horse status. I mean honestly? If he has 8 grand to spend? Why not just go J and smack em all in the mouth. I just started a J-Swap, i'm $2500 in and it's almost installed and running and i'm garunteed to make more then 250 on horses and at the very least 230 on torque, and this is out of a J32 Type S swap..
K = Fad. Not a cost effective way to build up a car. This is soley my opinion though.
