TSC Light on, will not go into gear
I have a problem with my 03 v6 accord. The TSC light comes on when braking to much while driving. I arrive at my destination and turn the car off. Then start the car and the light is still on, I then have problems with it going in gear. The brake pedal will not release the gear shifter. It takes a lot of patience when you are sitting in front of a busy gas pump and you cannot move. I have to start the car and then turn it off and take the key out. I repeat this for about 20 times, maybe more or less. It seems like forever! Went to the local dealer and they cannot help me. They are stating that the car is not showing any codes. I need help! Any ideas? Thanks!
Next time the car will not shift out of park, check your brake lights. If the brake lights are not working, the brake pedal position switch is a likely cause. You should hear a clicking sound, when the brake pedal is pushed (under the dash, and in the console, near the shift lever).
PS: You can insert the key into the slot next to the shift lever, and it will release the shift lever, if this happens again.

it means their is a problem with your traction control system. i have seen bad spark plug wires even turn this light on. it seems that if your engine isn't running quite right the traction control won't operate correctly. you should either take it in and have the system scanned. also wheel speed sensors will also cause the light to come on. basically what the system does is help and keep your car under control if one of the wheels starts spinning it will apply the brake to that wheel.
yes i agree. the brake peddal (brake light switch) might be failing causing the tsc system to not know when you are braking and making it flip out. easy fix.$21 at autozone

As stated by a couple of the other posts, check the brake light switch. Here is a link for how to do the fix; although it is for an Acura TSX, the Accord is very very (repeated for emphasis) similar. The part in the link is actually the same part for your car, part no. 36750-SMA-003. Honda list price is $7.62; but, a dealer sometimes sells for more than the suggested retail price. I recommend going to the dealer and buying the part though. The switch can cause all the symptoms you are experiencing.

Thanks for the link. I made this fix today and it was a breeze. Appreciate it.

I am having the same problem on my 2003 Accord LX. As of now I have to manually override the shift lock but I do not have any brake lights. I have seen some people saying once the switch is replaced you need to make sure it adjusted. Can anyone post a link for the full brake switch replacement/adjustment?
