10psi on a stock B18b1.. am I crazy???
Well tonight I got my car semi tunned at the local shop....no we didnt have a dyno so we just adjusted the valves since I have dual springs and retainers..
anyways we put the boost up to 10psi!!! do you think this is safe or should I put it down to 8-9???
heres my set up
99 B18b1
Crower dual springs
Crower titanum retainers
AEM cam gears at 0,0
Greddy TD04h 15g turbo kit (sohc modified to fit a DOHC)
Trust front mount intercooler
12:1 Vortec FMU
280 cc Prelude injectors
Greddy black box
255LPH intank fuel pump
Manuel boost control(but i dont think it works)
2 1/4 inch apex dual wrap arround exhaust(i know i need a straigh thew!)
autometer boost and A/F gauges
thats about it
let me know what to do next, I still wanna be faster

Thats pretty dumb. I can almost gaurantee that the injectors are at 100% duty cycle. Also you should be running some type of an inline pump with the FMU setup. Your just asking to blow the motor due to fuel starvation. Turn it down to 7-8 and you should be cool.
I run 11psi on my stock LS motor, but Im running 550s and hondata.

7-8 psi is just not fast enough!!!
I dont even fine 10 that fast,, I have heavy 17's and a big stereo system!!
My A/F gauge reads pure green under boost?
you really think am leaning out?
whats the next step in going fast (beside building my motor)

I personally think you shouldn't be asking people to guess if its safe or not. Find out by putting some sort of A/F monitor on the car and find out what numbers you are seeing under boost. Cars always feel like a rocket before they go BOOM because its lean. Do yourself a favour bro and invest a little more money in tuning and preserve the money you spent thus far. There is no point in doing it twice when you can do it once correctly. I am sure you got more then 2 grand in your setup so whats an extra 300 to 400 bucks at this point. Keep the boost cool until you see what your getting for readings. Just my 2 cents but I would hate to say I told you so if something goes wrong for being overanxious. Be safe and let your car live.

you need to run an inline pump with the fmu.....whats next you ask? what about better fuel managment? man your asking for trouble

you have a hispanic guy under your hood controling your boost? Manuel boost controller? or Manual? hahahaha im just pullin your leg.....engine bay looks nice
I talked to many pople that have lots of knowledge with turbo and they said the 255 high pressure intank pump is fine and I dont need a inline!!!
You guys think its worth buying a profec boost controller?
what should be my next mod besides exhaust?
new manifold?
thanks

GET IT ON A DYNO AND TUNE IT !!!!!!! If 10psi feels slow somethings wrong. Yes your autometer gauge should read all the way rich under boost! That gauge is made for N/A applications really so you can still be dangerously lean even with it showing all the way rich, so it isn't all the way green be afraid be very afraid.

actually i just got off the phone with inline pro because i'm building a much bigger setup using a safc, fmu, 440's and 255lph fuel pump will be pushing 14psi daily and 24+psi at the track and they said no inline pump is needed, i had to make sure after this post. I would recommend bigger injectors, they are definitely running 100% duty cycle full time.
There you go. thank you sooo much for proving my point
NO INLINE IS NEEDED!!!
ok so with the afc will I be able to run nice and rich....
by the way my injectors are 290cc...
and the fmu is 12:1!
thanks

ok so if I get 440's with a AFC.. then am good to go to the Dyno?

why would you want to run rich? the key is to neither run rich nor lean but rather be at the right ratio for your setup.
