Is the k20a3 oil pan the same as the k20a2 oil pan?

They aren't the same at all. The a2 is much larger. This is why the k20a2 holds so much more oil than the a3.

Get the a2 oil pan if you have an a2.

Not to mention that the A3 is made out of flimsy material compared to the Type S. Get the Type S oil pans, you wont be disappointed.

this doesn't really matter.. the only thing that does matter is the pump matching the pan.

Steel is flimsy? Really? To the o/p, The base a3 and the type s share the same oil pump, so both pans are interchangeable. If you run the steel a3 pan, make sure you get the flywheel cover to go along with it.

I always thought the a3 has different oil pump than the a2..
I thought the a2 pump is better hence the safer higher rev?

the a3 civc motor has shafts the a3 rsx motor uses the same pump as the type s.. do not get that confused, or the pans confused. that's why i said match the pan to the pump not the motor

A3 and A2 from RSX share the same oil pump. I have both bottom ends in my garage and they are the same. You can verify below.
