Default Wiring Harness Keeps Burning Up. WTMF !

Ok, Few Days Ago ... My Civic (2000 4Dr D16y7) Burned Out Fuse #15 (7.5Amp Fuse) ... Since Then Ive Replaced That Fuse, But Now My Harness Keeps BURNING Up In Spots Starting At The Firewall On The Drivers Side. WTF. Ive NEVER Had This Problem Before ... NEVER. Just Seems Weird I Have No Mods Whatsoever, Suddenly Blow A Fuse #15, Then My Harness Starts Burning Up.

Help ! lol Im Trying To Keep My Car From Burning To The Ground :X

Ok, Check This, Pulled The Harness Back, And ReWrapped Them Up ... Car Atleast Runs Halfway Normal Now, But Im Pulling A CEL Code 0 ... And Tranny (auto) Shifts Are RIDICULOUS. Fluid Level Is Normal On The Tranny. Crap Keeps Getting Weirder And Weirder ... Idle Is Off From What It Was Also.

Fried ECU ?

Sounds like you have an exposed 12V source. Enough to draw upwards of 7.5 Amps (that's alot, 1 Amp can stop a human heart). Remove your harness and examine it. There should be a broken or worn wire. To be safe, remove the fuse and leave it off for now so your car doesn't burn to the ground while your sleeping, or working, or at the gym, or whatever.

I had a similar situation; I replaced the full harness. Was easier then you think! Cost 40$ for a new harness from a wrecking yard too, but I had to pull it myself.

The wiring harness rubs against the intake manifold bracket Underneath the manifold alon the firewall wearing through the insulation and causing a short, I just had this happen to me last week. There was a recall for this for 96-99 civics. Take a look at the harness very closely underneath the IM bracket, tape up any exposed wires.
