valve adjustment....idles wierd now.
i just got a valve adjustment yesterday, and now it idles wierd....
the rpms stay consistent at around 700-800 but instead of it sounding like "burrrrrrr", its more like "bop bop bop bop" and shakes alot
is this because the valves need time to settle? if so, how long does it usually take for the valves to settle?

sounds like the adjustment may be on the tight side.
Yes it sounds like they are on the tight side. The noise should go away within 24 to 48 hours if the car is daily driven, if after a couple of days this continues, I suggest you check with whoever performed the job.

i took it to PYR (peter yem racing) and they know their ****, so im probably gonna give it another day or two. peter said that they'll settle, but he didnt say how long.

Well at the extreme, if the lash is too tight (small) then when the motor heats up you may have a problem where the valves aren't closing all the way which would lead to a loss of compression.
haha, completely slipped my mind...im too lazy right now, tomorrow mornings a good time, i'll let u know... thanks peeps!!!

When I first adjusted the valves on my GS-R, I fudged one and left it with about .030 clearance instead of .007
I don't know how we missed it. Anyway, the car sounded like a diesel at idle, shook pretty bad, too. I ended up driving 200+ miles like that. Then I went back in there again and found the loose valve, adjusted again, and no problems.
