V6/wagon caliper swap on Accord - need someone who has already done it
Can someone who has done the AV6/wagon caliper swap on a 4G or 5G Accord, tell me what caliper bracket they used? Was it the 25T or 23T bracket? Every pair of calipers I can get from Autozone only has the 23T bracket. Which doesn't make sense since the rotor is 25mm thick (minimum thickness of 23mm).
Thanks
Thanks
I have no idea.
Feel free to come buy and check it out though.
Send me an email and I'll give you address.

Greensleeper, where are you in Milwaukee? We can meet up somewhere.
For now though - I forgot that when the bracket is on the car, the "23T" or "25T" is stamped on to the edge of the bracket that is facing the inside (i.e. facing the CV joint) so you wouldn't be able to see it. I thought maybe someone would have taken note before they put it on the car.
The 23T bracket seems to be working OK so far but the minimal clearance is making me nervous. I went to Autozone and they ordered another pair for me just to see if the same brackets would come with it - and they were the same. Right now I have to live with it shimmed out with washers. The guy at Autozone said that they would take the calipers back though so I am looking for another pair hopefully with the right brackets - I just don't want to pay more.

I'd be interested in seeing this shim idea you are using. I don't understand the problem though - haven't really thought about it.
This weekend is my last in WI so we should catch up sometime soon.

I put some pictures up, look at them and you will probably see what I mean by "minimal clearance."

I don't understand how I ended up with a 23T bracket. This must be the bracket for the regular 4 cylinder coupe/sedan Accords with stock Nissin calipers (mine had Akebono calipers.) Funny thing is, my Akebono caliper brackets (designed for the thinner rotors) actually have a bigger cutout for the rotor. Go figure.
None of the junkyards around here have anything good. I am gonna keep driving with the bracket I have now for a while. It seems to be holding up.
I tried putting the PF pads back on tonight - added the shims that came with it, and they are great!! I also adjusted the brake pedal per the factory manual and I now have a nice high pedal, just like I wanted. I see braided lines in my future, but this will keep me content for now.
I see now what you mean by minimal clearance. I'll look at it tomorrow morning.
I'm on the North side right by Good Hope and 107th.

amazing but its mostly the fatter rotors, more aggresive pads, and SS lines.
though the larger caliper helps

where did u get your calipers? junk yard or autoparts store? im thinking about getting rebuilt NSX calipers... but now im afraid i might not get the right bracket.

I can get NSX calipers the same price as the legend ones. and the NSX ones are a little lighter even though the legend ones have a bigger second piston..

I think the reason why you got the 23T bracket with the caliper is because ITR's also use the same caliper and I'm pretty sure that ITR's use a 23mm rotor. So my guess is you got a caliper from a ITR.
how does it feel compared to the stock 4cyl caliper??
Either way though, for roughly $80 more than it would have cost me to do just a stock replacement (new rotors and pads), I'm not complaning! My old rotors were warped - so I was in the market for new rotors anyway, and I would have bought new pads for the new rotors. Basically the only thing that cost me "more" for the upgrade was the calipers.

I was looking at getting the Legend or NSX calipers as well but just could not find decent calipers for a decent price in my area.

I'm looking for the phone # of the remanufacturer (Morse) to see if they might be able to help me out. Probably not though, but it's worth a shot.
maybe you should try getting them from a different autoparts store..
I should just order up a pair from Olsten's. But then again the ones I have are doing just fine. Hmmn. Maybe these will work out OK after all.
You said the legend calipers that they ordered were only single piston? Maybe take a look at the brackets on those.
