I HAVE AN 01 HONDA CIVIC THE BATTERY DIED ON ME AND THE STEREOS SAYING CODE. I DONT KNOW HOW TO FIND THIS CODE DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED TO REMOVE THE STEREO TO GET THE SERIAL. I DONT KNOW HOW AND DONT WAN2 BREAK ANY THING. I PRESS THE 1 AND 6 WHEN I TURN IT ON AND IT SAYS

you should be able to give them the vin, and they can give you the code back. you may have to go to the dealer, so they know your not trying to scam the code.

 

Not true with the vin#. You need to take the radio out and get the serial # off the radio, then go to the dealer with verification that you own the vehicle. Once that's done they will get you the code. The vin doesn't tell the dealership what serial# is on the factory unit.

I would look at the owners manual to see if someone wrote the number down.

 

is it the original radio to the car?? and do you have the owners manual?? it'll be in the original owners packet with owners manual. also...sometimes i've seen it on the inside lid of the engine bay fuse box. worth a shot taking a look in there.
