90 CRX DX with B16 swap wont start HELP
Ok, So I did the swap over 2 years ago and its been running fine until a week ago. Now it wont crank at all. It turns over fine, but WONT fire up. For the past two weeks Iv had problems with it cranking in the morning before work (would have to turn it over 2 or 3 times before it would finally fire up and would bust up a little bit while driving the car) Now it wont fire up at all. Well I figured it would be a distributor problem because i rebuilt it twice and it had a cracked housing. So I replaced the ENTIRE destributor (with a brand new one) and it still will not fire up. I Replaced the main relay, that diddnt work so i put the old one back in. I turned the egnition switch on and couldnt hear the fuel pump "Prime" or "hum" any more. I also read to check the thermostat housing ground and did. It seems to be intact unless Im looking at the wrong ground. So Im guessing now it could be the fuel pump? Please help me out guys. I need the rex running asap, my only ride
Thanks sooo much
JOSH

sorry accidently hit the send. look its your fuel pump if you cant hear it prime or hum but to make sure because eventhough hondas a great car their a b to work on take some gas or ethanol and spray it in the throttle and try to start and if it starts there it is its ur fuel pump
NOTHING!! DAAAMNIT! Ok so is ther a "fuel pump relay" aside from the "main raly" located under the dash??? If so I have not checked it yet. Thats what a good bud of mine just suggested.
First off, have you physically checked for spark, both before and after changing the distributor? That's the most important step when diagnosing no-start.
Are you certain that the fuel pump isn't priming? Did you check for power at the connector? Did you plug the new one in and test before installing to make sure it ran when they key was turned to position II ("on")?
Does the Check Engine light illuminate for two seconds and then shut off after the key is turned to pos. II, or does the light stay on constantly and never shut off?
Um, no.
Just because the fuel pump isn't running doesn't mean it's bad. The Denso fuel pumps in fuel-injected Hondas almost never fail; it's a very rare occurance. Main relay failures are a far more common cause of an inoperative pump.
You always always check for power at the fuel pump wire harness connector before diagnosing or replacing fuel pump in a fuel-injected Honda.

Im sorry yall. But yea when i switch the ignition on the check engine light stays on. It wont blink a code. Explaine "DDM" please. It needed a dizzy any way. And Im sure a new fuel pump wont hurt. Thank you for the help guys. Is there a fuel pump relay?
DMM = digital multi-meter.
If the Check Engine light stays on constantly and doesn't shut off after 2 seconds, then the ECU isn't getting power. The PGM-FI main relay controls power to both the ECU and the fuel pump, so it's best to start there. You may also have a bad ground, or a blown fuse in one of the two fuse boxes.
When you replaced the main relay, did you replace it with a used one or a new one? Is it known to be good (i.e. it was removed from a running vehicle)?

thanks targa250r. ill check it out 2marrow. ima black out shortly. it was a new one. but maid no differance. ill be back on again after work. i checked a couple grounds and all seem 2 be in tact
Hmm since you didnt know what one was i'll assume that you don't have one in the tool box lol. Ask around with some of your buddies that are mechanical and try to get one tracked down. To keep from replacing random parts you need to eliminate a few things electrically.
I suspect that you're not getting power to the main relay or that you have a bad ground. Can you hear the relay click when the key is turned to pos. II?
TJchad, coulda just said "Volt meter" and I woulda known what you were talkin bout. and I work in a shop. Targa250r: When I turn the key over I do hear a "click" noise comming from under the dash but dont think its comming from the main relay. I have the main relay pulled out (hanging) right now for easy access. It sounds like its comming from another location under the dash. Im going to be looking for disconected grounds and checking for power to the fuel pump this afternoon. I shoulda done that lastnight before i reinstalled the tank oh well. Thanks for your help Targa250r. Ill updat you shortly and let you know what i find.
well the rex fired up and is running. I think we have a bad connection for power to the relay. kinda suprised us. while we were tracing wires we disconected the conector in the engine bay on the driver side upper strut mount area looking for power. we reconected it and tried to fire it up for the hell of it and it did and stayed running. kinda puzzled us cause we really diddnt know what we did lol. So im guessing its a bad connection in that connector??
